Nice place to walk to from town. Loads of history in and around the amphitheatre and the Acropolis (pity its still got scaffold round the remains). Very warm around there and nowhere to get a drink unless you have coins for the vending machines. (guess who didnt). Across the road the road at the top of the site you get a wonderful view along the coast and a good walk back to the Aquarium end of town via a long set of steps.

A must do is to catch the hop on hop off bus up here. You’ll see the arena and the temple and enjoy the picturesque trip. It’s not that far to walk to either if you like a good walk.

it can be found on the hill overlooking the city of Rhodes-when i went there last month it was under repair by the authorities- still- it is well worth a visit - especially with the yellow double decker tourist buses

A historical area full of ancient monuments, the most important of them being the temple of Apollo (or what still exists of it). Worth visiting. Entrance is free.

We took the bus tour that dropped us at the top of ruins and the 4 of us headed towards the Acropolis. Sadly it is covered in scaffolding but if it wasn't being looked after we would only eventually see a pile of rocks.
It's free to see and why wouldn't you
Take a walk down towards the running track and enjoy the relaxing peace and quiet and reflect exactly how old this place is.

A real disappointment to see such a historic site covered in scaffholding. I was really looking forward to seeing this and left dissappointed. A real shame.

A very pleasant walk of around 40 minutes from the Atrium Platinum hotel led us to the ancient temple of Apollo which (although covered with scaffold) proved to be a very worthwhile visit. There is no entrance fee and we were impressed with the Olympic Stadium which is on the same site.
There are marvellous views across the Aegean Sea towards Turkey along the way. Thoroughly recommended.

As i have been many-many times holidaying on Rhodes .. I will suggest that if you can- walk the distance from Rhodes town to the Acropolis (Monte Smith ). Its a beautyfull walk , and the old Acropolis is fantastic.. ( i'm always amazed how hard it must have been to build these temples) the the ancient stadium also. And while you are there, go to the top off Monte Smith to see, the vue from there towards the West Coast of Rhodes and the Coast off Turkey. (remember water for the trip and maybee a sandwich, as nothing to by there but, you can enjoy a rest there on benches or on the grass)

We decided to walk up from Rhodes, it was a very hot day and the walk is continuously up hill. The end was well worth the sweat. The Temple itself is a small ruins but the surrounding ruins which includes a stadium is quite impressive. The view of the island is spectacular and the walk back down is very nice through the olive trees.
