We walked up during a heat wave and a steep walk it was. That being said, it was worth the effort (though I wished we'd taken the water taxi) and quite beautiful. We did not tour the buildings but the grounds were incredible. So beautiful and our favorite stop on the lake.

On a hot July day the tree lined walk was a refreshing break from the sun. You can go by boat taxi from next to the Lido for around 7euro andwith slightly reduced entry at 7e instead of 8 euros. We visited just the gardens which are very well kept and stunning. There are plenty of picture post card vistas.... More

Arriving at the Villa Balbianello in the water taxi saves your energy for the garden and museum. Not having walked up the steep pathway aproach I couldn't say if it is definately worth the investment but for me the walk up from the boat mooring, as was the garden designed to receive you, gave the correct perspective to the view.... The Villa was awesome, the gardens were like being in some little paradise. The view of the lake was cool as it reflected even the sun. The wedding of my cousin will be hard to forget. The only problem... no Air Conditioning in the facilities.

April - many plants starting to bloom. Immaculate garden. Interesting tour of the house. And amazing views of the lake itself. Many photo opportunities. At the tip of a peninsula in the lake - almost nothing else but forest around it, so just other people, birds and boats on the lake.

My nine year old son is a huge Star Wars fan. We visited the villa because on one of irs balconies, Anakin marries Padme in Star Wars 2. The gardens offer a great view on lake Como (or on Naboo as we liked to imagine). The road from Lenno to villa Balbianello was a nice walk through the woods.
