About
The Castello Tricerchi wine Estate is situated on the northern side of Montalcino hill town. It extends for 400 hectares, 13 of which being covered with Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino vineyards. In the centre of the Estate stands the Castle, built in the 13th century by the Altesi family; in 1441 it was completed by the Tricerchi family, and today winery and home of their direct descendants, the Squarcia family. The vinification and aging cellar are where in the 15th century the Tricerchi family considered it to be the best place. Everything in this part of the castle is as it was 600 years ago and traditional methods have been conserved, even with the inevitable help of technology. Our work has driven by passion, valorizing the terroir in respect of our traditions. Necessary factors to produce a noble wine, like Brunello di Montalcino. Pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of 1982, the Tricerchi Castle was declared an artistic and historical heritage of Italy

Will be one of my best food memories.
We did the tour followed by the cooking class. Allessio gave a detailed explanation of the history of the castle and the family, now in their 25th generation, that maintain and operate the wine business. Cooking class takes place in a modest building perched overlooking the vineyards and the town of Montalcino. Alessandra is the chef and took us through dessert, pasta and main course preparation. First step was a glass (a bottle, actually) of Prosecco. There may be up to a dozen people in the class which is given twice a day, once at 11 am and again at 2 pm. We were fortunate to find ourselves in a private class. Alessandra was the perfect instructor, professional and still very easy going and fun. She made our lunch a 5 star experience never to be forgotten. The food was wonderful. Alessandra credited her nona as the inspiration. We enjoyed the three wines as well and found them more approachable than brunellos I have had in the past. We bought a case of wine (shipped to US for a very reasonable fee) along with a few bottles as gifts to our hosts at Villa Vignacce in Bettolle. We loved everything about our visit to Castello Tricerchi.

    Well worth the visit
Our party of 8 (family members) are staying in Montepulciano on holiday. We researched this vineyard online and decided to visit because it’s a family-owned smaller vineyard. The tour was well organised and run. We visited the castle, the cellar and grounds and tasted their top 3 wines. Alessio was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Very nice visit. Highly recommend.

Great family winery with wines to match
Tomasso and his family were great hosts. Great tour of the castle and the winery. Great lunch with wine after the tour. Bought bottles there and have bought more since. The favorite of the three wineries we visited.

We went to the Tricerchi castle for a tasting with lunch.
The guide was very good at telling the history of the castle and related wine production.
We expected much more about the location, it seemed quite "neglected" compared to what we saw online.
We also tasted and had lunch in a room of the owner's apartment (and not in the tasting area as it was being renovated).
The "most unpleasant" things were having to have lunch with the smell of cat pee and a dog that wasn't very well looked after and having to ask for glasses to be changed as they were completely dirty, as if they had already been used.

Both the cold cuts and cheese platter and the first course (paccheri all'aglione) were very good, as were the cantucci and coffee!
The wines are good, but we have tried better ones.

Castello Tricerchi is a winery in a very old building which used to be a castle. The building needs a lot of work. Several groups of people were combined into one large group (about 15 people) for tasting. In my opinion this was too many people. We toured the vineyard and tasted 3 brunello wines. The wines were okay. I think there are better wines at other wineries in the Montalcino area.

We were served by a very friendly guy, who seemed to be one of the owners. He introduced us to the winery and then we went for the tasting. After some explanations, he left us at the table to enjoy the wines.
I really wanted to buy wine there.
At one point, an employee who was presenting the wines to a couple at another table, came to our table, for no reason took our wines, and started serving them to the other couple at the other table, and there she stayed, and did not bring the wines back
I found it very rude and rude and I didn't understand.
Obviously, with that attitude, we gave up on buying any wine at this winery.
I wouldn't go back there again.
The property is very beautiful, the wines seemed delicious to me, but the employee's attitude ruined everything.
It seemed to me that they only treat customers well who have a clear intention to buy.
I've been to countless wineries in France, Argentina, Chile, Portugal... and I've never experienced anything like this.

The guide is truly fantastic! The visit was nice but I expected more from a castle.
For the really good food we had lunch with a platter of three wine tastings, only one of which was Brunello di Montalcino but it was very good, and the hand-made pici all'aglione were good. The only big flaw is the prices for this lunch are 60 euros each. And the least expensive bottle was 17 euros for a wine that is not even classified as Montalcino red but their first aperitif wine as they call it.

The guided tour of the winery was interesting and instructive but the degustation that followed was very disappointing. We were left on our own on a table with three different wines and a few pieces of bread and crackers. with no explanation. In our opinion, the wines were of very average quality

We quite enjoyed this ancient castle winery in the Tuscan hills. The tour was interesting and the host was pleasant and knowledgeable. The wine was three tastings. The pour size was good, but the first 2 were pretty average and the final one, the Brunello, was of course great. So, a bit expensive for what was really only one great wine to taste. I think they would be better off with slightly smaller pours of three great wines.

The place looks fantastic, a Castle from 1441 that turned into a winery and still on the same family.
Staff is very friendly, the wines were fantastic not to mention the view.
we were there when they were harvesting the grapes, what an experience.
Thank you Tomaso, we will see you soon.

We came here on our fourth day in Tuscany for a wine tour and wow. Just driving up to the castle was incredible. The surroundings are absolutely stunning. Seeing the rows of grapes growing and the silhouette of the castle as we ventured up the hill was enough to make our trip worth it, but we were so floored by the amazing service we received right from the get go. Our tour guide found us at the door to the castle and offered us ice cold water. From there, we suddenly realised we were on a private tour and it was just the two of us! We got to head out to the fields and learn about the history of the family & the castle whereafter our guide took a photo for us. Then we got to see how they make the wine, see the aging process (right above the dungeon!), and finally enjoy 3 INCREDIBLE Montalcino wines for only €15! Our only regret is we wish we could have bought a couple bottles to bring home, but the logistics are a little difficult with 2 carry ons! Highly recommend!
