We had a great trip with Beyond the Road Adventures! The food and scenery were spectacular, and Ted and Joanie were wonderful. Definitely a trip we will remember, and we highly recommend heading out for a cruse on the Agate Pass!

We had a dinner cruise on Ted and Joanies wonderful boat in August 2018. They are excellent hosts and very friendly. A dinner cruise didn’t sound very chill, but I am glad we did book this event. While we were swimming in the Pacific near pinnipeds, they made an excellent meal with fresh prawns and steelheads 🍤🥗 All was very relaxing around the Copeland Islands.

Awesome boat excursion, food, vessel, information and hosts were bar none!
Lloyd of Lund, the dog sitter recommended by Joanie was kind and caring for our pet.
Call Joanie first before booking anything as she is a wealth of knowledge and most helpful.
We ended up staying at the Island View Lodge in Powell River as Lund accommodation prices tended to be rather steep. The pet friendly Island View Lodge in Powell River, though not fancy was super clean and efficient with hard working and friendly family owners. Rates were more than half the price and at only 20 mins away, with 'Camp' coffee house and bakery down the road, we were set.
Wonderful holiday, a gorgeous part of BC the Sunshine Coast definitely needs to be explored! Have fun and book with Beyond the Road!

We have just returned from the Tidal Rapids and Discovery Islands Explorer - a four day trip with Joanie and Ted, the proprietors of Beyond the Road Adventures. We were fulfilling a long-held desire to visit the coast of BC, so we spent a great deal of time researching our options before booking. We are so glad that we chose this company!
Even before the trip started, Joanie was happy to answer queries and offer help and advice. Once we stepped onboard it was clear we had chosen well - we immediately felt we were in safe hands and throughout the trip it felt like we were on holiday with old friends , such was the relaxed hospitality. The boat itself is comfortable and ideal for sightseeing. Home cooked meals and drinks of a high standard were provided on our journeys out and back. Once at our base at Blind Channel Resort we were accommodated in comfortable cabins and treated to more good cooking, supported by friendly hospitality from their team. The package included two days of trips out in a fast boat, when we were treated to great views of sea eagles, orcas, humpback whales and bears. Everyone who hosted us was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about showing us the beautiful environment that is coastal BC. Truly an excellent adventure!

We had family from England come to visit, and wanted to show them Desolation Sound, one of our favourite places. We chose to do Ted and Joannie’s lunch cruise for 5.5hrs and were so glad we did, we had a fabulous time! Ted’s expert navigation and Joannie’s really delicious lunch, plus there knowledge of the history of the local area was such a pleasure. Pat and I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend ‘The Agate Pass’ as your choice to explore this beautiful part of the world. We also had delightful people joining us on this tour and it was lovely to meet others who enjoyed this experience also. Thank you so much Ted and Joannie for being the perfect hosts. Captain Ted and First Mate Joanie are a delight to spend the day with boating through Desolation Sound. We were a group of 12 and enjoyed the food, scenery and knowledge imparted by Ted & Joanie.
I joined them on this trip 5 years ago and was happy to organize a group to return. We had a great day!
I know I’ll go with them again!

Joanie and Ted were amazing hosts on our cruise throughout Desolation Sound! They are informative and warm - and fantastic cooks to boot! The prices were very reasonable and in our opinion it’s the best method to view Desolation Sound if you only have a day. While it’s not a whale watching tour, focusing more on scenery, we saw lots of seals and a couple of humpback whales. Overall we couldn’t have asked for more!

Absolutely wonderful day on the Agate Pass !! Arranging the trip was effortless and made simple with a quick phone call through number on the website. We opted for the 5 hr trip.

We sailed out and back on beautiful calm waters . Desolation Sounds was a beauty . Small islands litter the waters, tall steep mountains, surround and cast over the calm waters . Ted was a great captain sharing with us some of his wealth of knowledge of the area and guiding us through the wonders of the park - we even sailed right through some of the small ( but deep) gaps !

For lunch, we anchored up in a beautiful small cove where we're encouraged to take a swim! I was a little taken a back at this as I thought the water would be freezing! But it was lovely and refreshing - and a stunning spot to have a swim! Nothing was then better , than a welcome back aboard with an ice cold beer ! Now that's what I call a great host ! Thanks Ted! After that, a super delicious meal of steelhead, and fresh local vegetables was served by Joanie- it was heavenly - thank you !
We loved the whole day out on the water, It was a really wonderful way to see the marine park, we also got to see some of the locals - seals and whales !
I highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Lund - you must do it !

I hesitated going on this adventure with my family as I am not a good ocean traveller but so glad I did. My brother and sister-in-law treated us to this 3 hour desolation sound tour with spectacular views of the surrounding islands and coastline. Even residing in BC we still found the scenery breathtaking. They anchored in a quiet cove and we enjoyed a dinner that exceeded anything I have had in some of the best restaurants. I regret not bringing my good camera and a hat.

I was recommend to take a tour with this company by my Airbnb Host Marnie from Whale Rock Cottage. I’m soo happy I did. As a solo traveler I was grouped with a great group of other tourist. The places we were able to visit were breathtaking. I was in good hands as they clearly had much history in these areas to answer all my questions. I am defiantly doing this again next year with my boyfriend. Desolation Sound was unbelievable. It gave me a higher appreciation for how beautiful our country is ♥️ The lunch was delicious and vegetables fresh from their garden. How much more local can you get ?? I’ve been on many tours in many places all over the world and this company was the most trusting and outstanding hospitality 😁 Thank you for this experience!!
