About
Established in 1959, Covert Farms Family Estate Winery is located in Oliver, BC on 650 acres of benchland. Winemaker Gene Covert is a 3rd generation farmer who worked this land with his father and grandfather. Our certified organic estate vineyards are influenced by the majestic McIntyre Bluff and managed with biodynamic practices. We craft our estate wines with minimal intervention, using natural fermentation when possible to focus on vineyard and fruit. Our white wines display purity of fruit and a crisp natural acidity coveted by growers, and low yields result in terroir-focused artisan reds that are luscious and age-worthy. Those who love recreation dually appreciate our location at the gateway to the iconic Okanagan landmark McIntyre Bluff, which makes a great place to picnic, bike ride or hike. Secrest Organics at Covert Farms operates our seasonal fruit & vegetable stand, and visitors can get their hands dirty in the u-pick section - selecting ripe produce under the summer sun.

On a road trip through BC with a toddler, we needed a place to stretch his legs. Boy did Covert Farms deliver!
Included with the adult wine tasting is access to their kid-friendly attractions; the bouncy blob, yard games, and farm animals. As they closed for the day, they brought out the kitchen scraps for the chickens and encouraged the children to feed them. It was so sweet.
On top of the fun, their wines were tasty and the hosts extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the workings of the farm. A regenerative working farm and vineyard, they described how they limit water use, prioritize syncing the land and animals, and provide the opportunity to taste some amazing local meats, cheeses, and fruits.
Highly recommend this stop.

Loved our visit, beautiful farm, great people and amazing wine! Try the rosé! We learned a lot. Shout-out to David and the great things he taught us about the regenerative farming.

Welcome to the California of Canada! Covert Farms Family Estate is reminiscent of California with vintage truck tours, stunning landscapes, working farm/ranch on 650 acres. Beginning with George Covert leaving California for the south Okanagan in 1959 to grandson Gene and Shelly/family now carrying the torch. Regenerative organic farming, award winning wines and a pure love of the craft, Covert Farm is a “MUST VISIT”! Perfect for families, weddings, couples, or connoisseurs looking for a true, rural wine country experience! 🇨🇦🍷🍇🥂☀️
Sit in the back of the beautiful ‘52 Mercury and tour the property, sip wine and enjoy charcuterie while gazing at the gorgeous McIntyre Bluff or go see the alpacas and critters. Best part, it’s only a quick drive from the District Wine Village.

Our extended family [13 in all] have returned home from an Okanagan vacation. Our visit to Covert Farms was a highlight. The six grandkids ranging from 2 to 15 really enjoyed the freedom of a farm.
Our server, Zola, educated us about the wine experience and, equally importantly, added to the Family Fun Factor of Covert Farms.

What an absolutely brilliant and delightful afternoon! Everything was perfect. The charcuterie boards were delicious, with organic fruits and vegetables from their own farm. The live music was so much fun, the wine delicious, and the people were beautiful. The scenery was magical and we got out and jumped and played and laughed. It was a wonderful day.

Covert Farms bills itself as family-friendly, but it is about the least family-friendly place that I have ever been. Once they found out that we didn't pre-book (which they website didn't indicate was an absolute requirement), they were unaware of the next available tasting and whether they could accommodate a child's tasting (our kid is TWO, pour some juice and call it a day) - and yet, they didn't say something along the lines of "excuse me while I go and check and see".... they just stood there staring at us, giving us the distinct impression that they wanted us to just leave. They did try to appease us by saying we could just drop in to visit the grounds - they have some animals ("but they're all in the shade so you won't see them", and they have some play structures ("but the inflatable pillow [literally the only good thing there] isn't available as it is only available to those on a pre-booked tour") - and it costs $10 PER adult. We could spend $20 to see no animals and use no play equipment... what a great deal after wrangling two kids under 3 out of the car and promising a wine tasting that would finally be fun for them. They told us that they "did things a bit differently", and out of the entirety of our interaction, nothing could more accurately describe Covert Farms. They do things a bit differently, but it's not a positive. I would avoid this place altogether if you have children or a family. It is NOT family-friendly, and it was not in fact even remotely friendly at all. This place is a rip-off, and I would go so far as to say that their pricing for their "family-friendly" portion of activities is a scam.

Hi Sarah,
I’m sorry to hear you had a negative experience at our farm, and appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us.
Due to increased demand, we have implemented a reservation system to ensure visitors can enjoy a comprehensive Covert Farms experience and we are properly staffed to most effectively and professionally manage our visitor capacity. While pre-booked experiences are given priority, we do our best to accommodate walk-in visitors wherever possible, though it sounds like we were at capacity with reservations when you had arrived. We were short a few staff members this past weekend, therefore we were not able to take in many walk in guests without reservations.
Earlier this year, we introduced a general farm admission ($5 for children/teenagers, ages 5-18, and $10 for adults), which provides guests with access to our weekly live music performances, new visitor experiences such as the self-guided farm tour, and farm games including the slip and slide and the jumping pillow. The admission fee itself goes directly to cover the cost of staffing required to serve our onsite guests and monitor visitor safety while our guests interact with the farm animals and play with the games. The costs of tours and tastings automatically includes this fee.
We have posted this information on our website and on the signage on our property.
Sincerely,
Shelly Covert

Highly recommend visiting this winery especially if traveling with children. While you taste, book the kids for a farm tour and juice tasting

This is a family friendly experience. Various family oriented events including live music throught the year. There is a large ballon type trampoline to keep the kids entertained as well as lots of poen space and play areas.
At Cover Frams you can pick yourself at various times of the year, and there are a variety of picnic areas to choose from.
If you feel like wandering the farm there is plenty to see. In the Fall, there is a large pumpikin patch to make your selection from.
Wines here are great and reasonably priced.
Definatley a worthwhile stop while your inthe Okanagn.
