About
Having grown grapes for the last 20 years we have established ourselves as one of the premier award winning grape growers in the valley. Our story started with our family immigrating from India in the 1990's and making Okanagan our home. We have always worked to establish ourselves as hard working and determined family. The name Kismet is derived from the Punjabi word 'destiny'.

WE stopped at this winery because of the name: years ago I had played the Califf in a production of the musical Kismet! The tasting was nice and some of the wines very good, if a little pricey. We enjoyed and left with some liquid souvenirs.

Of the 5 wineries we visited, this was our favourite. The staff were very knowledgeable and accommodating, the wine Karma was great and lunch on the patio was very good.

Our reservation was for 630, and we were seated in the middle of a very large room. We were 5th customer. We asked to move to a side table and at first told no and then the server moved us. This restaurant seats everyone back to front as they come in. @#$% never seen this before. The room looks and sounds like a hall. We ordered wine and appies, thinking we would enjoy before our entrees. That didn't happen. Food was good. Portions were ample. We had finished dinner and our server said it looks like you are ready to leave, I was going to offer you dessert. Again @#$%. Great food but service needs improvement. We will order takeout next time.

We were on vacation in Penticton and my wife was really excited to visit Kismet winery in Oliver to buy a wine and have some food at the Masala Bistro. She was particularly excited to visit the winery because she too is of Indian descent.

We were sorely disappointed with our wine tasting experience, not because of poor quality wine but because of poor customer service, hence the 1 star rating for this review.

The woman who was our host that day left a bad taste in our mouths (no pun intended). After reviewing the long list of wine on the tasting menu, we decided that we were only going to try a few select wines (and not the whole selection as I was the designated driver). However, our host appeared to be displeased with the order we chose to sample the wines. We sampled 8 wines between us. Her frustration towards us was apparent during the wine tasting because she provided very little information regarding each sample of wine and only provided the name of the wine which we already knew. Her obvious frustration with us made the visit to the wine shop very awkward indeed and essentially ruined the overall wine tasting experience. We have not experienced this at other wineries and as a result we were quite bothered by this.

We had driven specifically to this winery with a degree of enthusiasm and excitement! Despite the unpleasant experience, we did however end up buying a wine called "Mantra" which we look forward to opening! (plus a set of Kismet winery water glasses after seeing them in the restaurant shortly after the wine tasting - separate review for restaurant to follow).

Kismet is just a little bit different. We enjoyed a great tasting of wines followed by a delicious meal. The story of how Kismet started is a good one. We had recently tasted their Karma red blend and loved it. Friendly and fun.

We were there on Sunday, October 4Th we had a really bad experience at the winery the woman doing the presentation was so un interested in giving information She stood back and looked at the ground and Did not make any eye contact
It was the weirdest experience I had to kind of go woo hoo we’re here. I also saw one of the staff throw back a tester of wine . I’m sure they might have to do quality-control or something but do it in the back room. In general it was like they didn’t care Were pretty easy-going and totally understand with Covid going on that things are definitely different But the other wineries we went to the service was very good.
