Covert Farms Estate Winery is easy to find. parking is free and if your an intermediate hiker, you can hike to the tip of the Bluff in less than 90 minutes (for me, that's bookin' ... I'm 57). We lunched at the edge and took our sweet time coming down, less than 4 hours total. Plus, at the end,,,there's wine! Bear warning to start the day but, alas, Yogi was nowhere to be found.

I have hiked the short hike to the top of the McIntyre Bluffs a few times now and in different seasons. Every time I get to the top and see the view - it is breath taking for me. I recommend you take a few of hours out of your day to experience this attraction. Take a lunch, sit down under a tree at the top overlooking the Okanagan Valley and enjoy one of the best venues ever. This is an easy hike and there is lots to see (even saw a bear on our last hike up). The trails are clearly marked and easily navigated - stay on the trails. I highly recommend this for all.

This hike although short but is absolutely beautiful. I have been to almost 200 hikes all around and this one has its own uniqueness. It's an easy hike but don't go unprepared and don't push yourself at the beginning. Take a moderate step and sorry to say this but don't haul a full backpack like some poser maniacs who think they're going to Himalayas! Water, Sunscreen and good boots is all you need.

I went up with my six year old. It took us a lot longer than they estimate - I'm not fit and he's, well... six. It's steep in a lot of spots so we would rest after each climb. Completely worth the sweat and 3-day recovery lol My son was so proud of his accomplishment, he told everyone for days. It can be extremely hot in the summers here. Wear a hat, sunscreen, and bring lots of water if you're climbing on a hot day. Luckily, we were not and the wind at the top was a refreshing welcome.

We hiked this trail on a cool November afternoon. We started out late and came back in the dark, but it was worth it. We got the late afternoon sun shining on our faces. So now the details. Drive up Seacrest Rd, from Hwy 97 and turn into Covert Farms and go toward the main office. Covert Farms has now created a parking lot next to the wine shop for those who are climbing the Bluff. There is now no parking at the trail head. However, Covert Farms has created a nice walking trail from the parking lot to the trail head. Go through the gate at the trail head, ensuring that you secure the gate behind you. \You are actually on Rattlesnake Lake trial and you don't get to the McIntyre Bluff trail until you get to Rattlesnake Lake. The trail leads you along the fence line for about .5 km, before it swings uphill to the left on an old road. While there are a few steeper spots, the trail is not steep at all. The road switchbacks a few times, before it levels off and then descends toward Rattlesnake Lake. It is about 45 minutes to the lake. The trail swings to the right at the lake, and the circles around it. A few hundred meters you will come to the McIntyre Bluff trail. Turn right and you will start to ascend. The trail leads you down into a gully before ascending at a moderate rate toward the top. There are a number of false summits before you get to the top and then ascend a bit until you come to the edge of the cliff. It took us about 1.5 hours to get to the top. We lingered and enjoyed the fantastic views. This is definitely a trail that you could take children on, but keep them away from the edge, as there is absolutely no protection and it is 300 meters straight down to the Okanagan River. Enjoy. This is wonderful hike.

As everyone has said this is a lovely hike. We’re not super fit and I’m 60 and a bit of a whiner/winer but totally enjoyed the hike. A few quite steep bits going up but there are shady parts to rest and the view is worth it. It was 3 hours exactly for us including a few selfies and panoramic shots and sitting for a water break and Clif bar at the summit. Hat, good footwear, a large water and a camera are all you need.
We thoroughly enjoyed a wine tasting and charcuterie board at Covert Farms Organic Winery and Vineyard afterwards - really delightful. I meant to ask how it all works with them being at the trailhead of McIntyre Bluff. They have a sign-in book and are the perfect ‘stewards’ for the trail as you walk through a section of the vineyard before you head up the trail.
If you are in the area and have the time - regardless of your fitness level - do it!

Just over 10 kms it took us 3 hours round trip. It’s a gradual climb with a few steep parts. The path is well travelled. The only animal we saw was a deer although we did see bear scat in several spots. There are so many beautiful things to see....3 lakes Rattlesnake, Vaseux and Gallagher...massive trees....lots of wild flowers...so amazing. The views are brilliant! Thx to Covert Farms for allowing parking. Next time we’ll stop and have a glass of wine!

I started the hike from Covert Farms, through their beautiful vineyard. The trail is mostly well marked and gains elevation gradually, ending with a panoramic view of the valley. I did see a rattlesnake by the namesake lake. After hearing the distinctive sound and spotting the snake a few feet in front of me, I didn't hang around. It's worth the trip and perfect "break" if you feel you need a change of pace after all the wonderful wine and food in the Okanagan. I went late in the day (6 pm) and it took just over two hours. Even at that time it was hot, so bring sunscreen, hat, water and enjoy.

This is a fairly easy trail to complete. We did it in early may and the trail was absolutely covered in beautiful flowers. The view from the top was great, but I enjoyed the beauty of the trail even more!

What an inspiring every changing view. One of many beautiful scenic picturesque places in the Okanagan viewed from the highway or relaxing in one of winery patios above. This is a favourite scene of artist, and professional and amateur photographers.
