The collection is presented on highest standard - and in a modern way. Breathtaking! Everyone should visit the exposition!

The museum has a large collection of artefacts dating back to early mediaeval times. Some of the artefacts are linked to Teodolinda, the queen of the Longobards who later married the duke of Milan who made Monza his capital. The chapel she inherited, dedicated to St John the Baptist, became the Duomo. There are lot of reliquaries and also some... More

The treasure of Monza Cathedral is amazing. It is one of the most important of this kind in Europe. The musuem have an excellent collection of late antique and early medieval works of various kinds. It is also the house of the Theodelinda's treasure: the crown and cross of Theodelinda, the Hen with chicks and many others artifacts dated to... More

The museum hosts some UNIQUE artifacts from the late Roman period up to the age of Charlemagne. It is hosted in a crypt besides the temple, and in a chapel inside it. The chapel can be visited only in a guided tour (about 30 minutes), and you are advised to register in advance by the ticket office (see website) in... More

if for no other reason than the fact that you get to see the iron crown - then you must do this! I loved it.

We spent about 30 minutes in this museum, there are some very interesting artefacts, paintings and statues. We had two small children with us however and it is not really a family friendly museum.

Monza's royal langobard history is reflected in the riches of its cathedral treasury; the fairly small number of outstanding if not unique pieces from late antiquity and the early Middle Ages--ivory diptychs, jewel-incrusted, gilt book-covers and reliquiaries, votive crowns (not to mention the "Iron crown" itself in the cathedral next door), pilgrims' lead ampullae from the Holy Land--all rightly claim... Finally a museum that only charges €7 per person and gives in return more than expected. The collection of artifacts is very impressive for the price of admission and they took the time to have it all beautifully displayed with lots of information in chronological order. Then the basilica is free and even more impressive with its size, art and... More

This is one of the most rich museums of the area. There sits the Iron Crown that is held together by what is said to be one of the nails of the cross of Jesus Christ. This is true or not, the emotion that transmits this symbol of history and power is incredible.
