About
Fort Berens Estate Winery is a culmination of the dreams, vision and pioneering spirit of several entrepreneurs. It was founded with a pioneering spirit and forged on the road less traveled. The winery is owned by a team of eight individuals who share a common belief in the incredible winemaking potential of British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon and a shared vision to make Fort Berens into one of Canada’s leading producers of fine wine.

We stopped at this winery on Aug 11 on our way north. The wines were excellent and we bought two. The ladies inside were great. We also had dinner on the patio and our Bernese Mtn dog was welcomed. Our compliments to the chef. The meal was excellent and the service was great. He was very professional as well as friendly. The view was also great. We were very pleased with our experience there and will stop again when we are in the area.

Wonderful food, friendly service and some very nice wines. A really enjoyable family lunch at Fort Berens, perfect menu for all members of our group, with fresh local options. Great view too!

I’m not a wine drinker but my friends love the tasting. The lady hosting was friendly and knowledgeable. Great cookbooks and other wine related goods. The views are spectacular. Love the idea of maybe having a restaurant built on the roof. Views would be breathtaking and people would visit from around the world when we return to normal.

Lovely new facility. Great views. A sign requesting pickers at the entrance, yet we saw a deer with 2 fawns INSIDE the fence harvesting some of the grapes themselves!
As to the wines, though Ft. Behrens claims all kinds of awards, in reality they were not distinctive. In fact, they are mostly made from brought-in grapes, as the planted acreage is small and the vines about a decade old.
Their reserve Riesling was pretty good, the rest unremarkable and a bit overpriced

We were there on a Saturday, it wasn't busy, we had reservations for lunch, disappointed to have to sit outside, we had to move our table out into the sunshine for a bit of warmth. The staff inside in the tasting area totally ignored us. The servers at lunch were good, but the food was terrible, 3 had onion soup that was very watery, tasteless and not hot, my wife had the chicken that was described as "fall of the bone" and it was anything but, so tough she couldn't eat it, I had the charcuterie and it was dried out meat and cheese ($28, way overpriced), not a good experience. We bought 2 bottles of wine with our lunch and there was not a word to us to explain or promote the winery.

Thoroughly enjoyed our third visit here, this time enjoying a delicious lunch on the patio followed by wine tastings. The food was excellent (enjoyed the roasted chicken and charcuterie platter) and left with a few bottles of our favourite wines. Worth a stop at this picturesque winery nestled in the Fraser Canyon.

After a so-so lunch experience at The Kitchen that was rescued by Brook, we decided upon her suggestion to do a wine tasting.
Good selection of wines, even though they were out of the rosé & PTG. May have to come back & try those when in stock.
Sampled 6 wines & ended up buying a bottle of the Cab Franc to take home on the motorcycle.
Tasting was free w/ purchase.

My wife and I decided to have lunch here prior to enjoying a wine tasting. While the lunch was somewhat underwhelming, the wine tasting was fabulous.
Our host Brooke (sp?) was very engaging and knowledgeable. She deftly took us through the various wine offerings providing some background and personal thoughts on each offering. It was a relaxed, informative experience which concluded with us purchasing some wine.
If in the area it is definitely worth a visit. For those who may have concerns, Covid precautions were suitably undertaken and we had no concerns whatsoever.

I know this place has had a hard time finding chefs and I am.local so will not declared what we are or they will figure me out . We had 4 different items from the menu and they were all dry, poorly presented and overly priced . Not what you would expect from a winery . Garbage good like the rest of the restaurants in Lillooet . They really should just stick to wine until they find a chef . We have a beautiful bakery in town how hard is it to get some of their beautiful bread with some nice cheese and salami of good quality to serve that would be relative to the price . Maybe go with tapas instead of meals until you find someone who can cook gourmet to meet your gourmet prices . Sorry but have had way better food at half the price . Back to the drawing board cause i guarantee they will not get return customers

Brett absolutely made our experience and he provided us with the contact info for a private campground so we had a place to stay. He was so informative and lovely to deal with that he made our birthday experience extra special and Amber who was our server was fantastic and sweet. We are grateful for our experience at Fort Berens and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Are dogs allowed on the patio? If not, is it possible to take-out?

Hi Monika,
In accordance of a Public Health order, dogs are not allowed in the tasting room or dining areas unless they are service dogs. We do have a grassy area next to the patio with trees providing shade where most guests with dogs will leave their pet. There is a direct line of sight to keep in touch with your companion.
