I used to know Jan who visited us frequently at our office in NRC. He was heavily involved in the Avro Arrow program and an extraordinary pilot with amazing stories to tell. This park is a fantastic tribute not just to Jan, but to Canadian aviation. Well worth a stop!

We visit this park frequently. The history is a large part of the reason we visit so often. It has an interesting story to tell. It is in the middle of Barry's Bay allowing to not only have a little rest but also to engage with the Train Station, Market on Fridays and Grumbling Grannies. Zurakowski Park honours a local... The information on the pilot of the plane that is featured there is very interesting. It is so wonderful that Barry's Bay recognizes this most interesting man.

This is in the middle of town, right across from the train station - interesting if you are an aviation buff. There is a miniature avro arrow and the park honours local resident and world-renowned test pilot Janusz Zurakowski.

A nice bit of Canadian Aerospace history. Worth a few minutes but not a destination. If driving through Barry's Bay, a good place to stretch the legs.

This is a very informative and moving memorial to a great pilot and his contributions to aviation in Canada. You can tell they put some effort into putting this little park together. The story of Zurakowski's exploits during and post-WWII as a pilot and test pilot are amazing. If you have any interest in aviation it is worth stopping here.

I recommend a quick stop at Zurakowski Park for anyone interested in significant Canadian history. However, it is a very small 'park' and a 10-15 min. visit is probably adequate. There is a nice gazebo to have lunch in, a statue, a model of the Avril Arrow and some informative billboards but that's about it. Best to build a visit... More
