Attended two events in the last while and both were excellent. The Hi Tea on Sunday on the deck overlooking the gardens was a real treat, China tea service with scrumptious sweets and savouries. Last night we went to see the Variety Cabaret and could not believe the talent, they were all excellent but Ty and Nico were outstanding- Ty what a voice - thrilling guitar and Nico one of the best keyboard performances I have ever seen. The ticket includes a free drink too! You can't go wrong here.

Incredible facility offering music, plays, dinner theater and the night we visited an open-mic night called a hootenanny with great music and a spacious dance floor. There is a snack stand with beer and other refreshments. Lovely resource for the community.

A very disappointing experience. Not worth the cost of $45 per person. A two person dialogue with guitar playing and singing- the barest minimum of creativity and talent. Amateurish. Lines sounded over rehearsed and stiff. Humour attempts were stale and worn. No visuals of the city of Charlottetown with many references to street names/buildings which could have been done with video or at least some still shots. The Nellie J Banks vessel could have/ should have had at least one image presented. Food-not enough Island biscuits to offer diners. When asked for additional biscuits we were told (table of six) there were only three left and another table also requested more biscuits! Meager portion of salad per plate which mainly included beans and a large fishcake. Fishcake was a good size and it was tasty and hot. Dessert also was good. Cost for this experience per person should not have exceeded $30.00. Perhaps $35.00 at the very most. Waitresses were friendly and efficient. Definitely would not advise going to this production and at this price. This is not up to the expected standard of PEI summer theatre.

I didn’t get murdered but I did get robbed by purchasing tickets at this theater. If you have see plays anywhere on the island this will not measure up. The writing of this play was very weak; the acting was below the level of a high school drama; if you decide to go despite this warning prepare to be disappointed. The 286 seat theater is nice enough— comfortable seats, air conditioned, acoustically fine and perhaps for another play it might be OK. But not for this particular play and cast of characters. The place wasn’t even 25% filled the night we went and I see why. We, unfortunately did not do our homework and check some recent reviews. So I blame myself. We have been to six different local theaters around the island and all were excellent with the exception of this one.

We support the local theaters especially in small communities whenever possible. We have never been disappointed in PEI or Nova Scotia.

When we stopped by to purchase tickets to this performance earlier in the week we thought that the theater was really impressive for such a small community. Plus as is typical in PEI the people were super friendly. The theater has an interesting history and it’s very comfortable. That’s where the good stuff stops.

At the opening of the play, about 60 seconds into it we could tell this was not going to be pretty. The concept of the play… a comedy who-done- it was very intriguing. And while the cast memorized and delivered their lines the entire play was very amateurish. Not to be mean, but I’ve been to high school productions that were much better than this. I hate to write bad reviews but I cannot support this play. I have to give the community credit for keeping the theater alive. But really, really can’t you find a better play to perform? If not a play then maybe a game show? Bingo perhaps? ;)

No art currently showing and there was no play but the manager took us on a tour of the theatre. Would be a nice venue to see a local play.

It was a rainy and blustery day so our tour of PEI took us on a driving expedition that passed to the historic village of Georgetown on the far east end of the island. We stopped into the Playhouse to snoop and were greeted by the Executive Director who toured us through the place.
A great gallery of local artists but more stunning is the intimate performance hall. It’s beautifully designed raked seating for about 275. Looks like a splendid place to see a show or a concert.
We’ll be back next visit to do just that.

We visited the playhouse for an evening out. My children are 11 & 13 and both enjoyed the show. The seats in the theatre are very comfortable and you can purchase snacks at intermission.

We saw the play The Four Tellers. This is their last of four seasons. Not only was the show amazing with great story tellers. The seats were comfy, and you could eat and drink at your seat. We would definately go again if we go to PEI in the future. You can book online. Print your tickets at home.

Thanks so much for joining us! The Four Tellers have been a tremendous gift to our community over the past 4 years as they bring their wit and storytelling to the stage. We hope you'll join us for some of the other wonderful shows in our summer season - each one has its own unique way of telling the stories of our people and our place .
