I have visited many monuments and this is a typical monument. It is not anything extra but a nice place and in a nice location. Santiago is a beautiful and wonderful city.

Ok, I'll be the out layer here and say this place does have an awesome view (360) but the actual monument needs some repairs. It was worth the history lesson and understanding of the country. As some posters have written, there are local street vendors selling water and soda that are not pushy. The carriage ride is kitschy but could... More

No matter what time a day it is, whether it is cloudy or sunny you will get a breath taking view of Santiago! From Tuesday to Saturday you can actually go up all the way to the top. You learn a lot about the history of the country. Be prepared to walk a lot and stand for a while.

We climbed to the first level and had a good view of the surrounding area so didn't feel the need to pay the admission fee to climb to the top. Carriage rides were available in the parking lot and vendors offering cold beverages without being pushy.
