You row for more than one hour enjoying beautiful sights, and when see the Tamul waterfall you get your reward. If you have young kids is better you bring their own vests, you'll feel more comfortable. Gorgonio and Cesar made an excellent job rowing hard and accommodating to our times and preferences. Mexican hospitality and kindness, you know. We swam... More

It is about a 30-60 minute drive on a good dirt road to the place where you rent a boat with a couple of guides / rowers. You row for about 30 minutes (or let them do the work) and visit an impressive 100 meter or so waterfall. The water of the river looks amazing because it has some sort... More

We took a boat upriver to the Tamul waterfalls. Surrounded by nature and just a few other people on boats (we went on a weekday), it was a lovely trip. Jumped from a big rock before the waterfalls into the cool water. We couldn't get closer to the waterfall in our boat because there were rapids and rocks in the... More

Cascades de Tamul; which is a waterfall that you have to paddle to from a small village called La Morena, about 20-30 kms north of Aquisimon. Here, for between 400 (shared) and 600 pesos (alone); the guide will take you in his canoe (4km) paddling to the magnificent water falls. The water of the river is turquoise in color (from... More

At the village La Morena you have to pay a small admission to drive down to the river Tampaon where you embark into a lancha with a lanchero in order to paddle upstream to the point where you can see the cascada de Tamul. They charge per boat so if you are only a couple it might be a good... More

Easy ride to La Morena from Xilitla if you have your own vehicle. No motors are allowed on this pristine river, so be prepared to help with the rowing. Be sure to have at least two rowers from the sindicato in your boat if you rent a boat for two people, because it's a four kilometer trip upriver to the... More

This is a great day trip from Xilitla and you can save about 800 pesos per person (rate will likely vary depending on number of people) if you just drive yourself. Nice easy drive to Aquismon. Tourist information had an English speaking rep at the desk who gave us great directions to La Morena and the embarcadero as well as... More

But even like this, the river is very beautiful and definitely worth visiting. Take enough water and sun protection with you - it can get very hot!
