A must to visit if you are in this area. The island is small and you won't spend more than 50 minutes to visit all the structures, but for R 40 per person, it is a cheap and enjoyable activity.

This was a fun stop if you're in the area. There were thousands of gannets on the beach, half of which were learning to fly. Gannets, it turns out, are not very graceful. Very fun to watch.

About a 5 minute slow walk up the harbour wall takes you to a number of areas where you can observe and learn about Cape gannets and other animals linked with this area. Be warned - it does smell, but what a treat to see these amazing birds so close up. From the viewing area you are only a few... More

Lamberts Bay is not exactly a tourist trap, thank goodness, but this is well worth a look. It costs a few Rand to enter but is good value to get up very close to thousands of gannets & observe at close quarters.

We decided to visit Bird Island as it is listed as one of the best things to do when visiting Lambert's Bay. We were not disappointed. The staff are friendly & helpful & the whole experience quite amazing. The static displays are very interesting but the birds take pride of place in our memories. Watching the birds act out what... Enjoyed our time - amazing amount of adult and young gannets. Worth the visit while in Lamberts Bay.

This is on the shore in Lambert Bay. There is a colony of gannets to can look in on. I think you will enjoy it if you have an interest in birds.

A birders paradise. This time of year there are many chicks. The pathways are well maintained and easy to walk. Pity the penguin area was closed due to some maintanance issues. Kiosk was quite empty - had a few t-shirts and even fewer drinks. Remember to bring along your WildCard if you have one.
