Our family (2 adults and a teenager) organised this trip by ourselves. We went there on our rental car. We have almost get the entrance by it although we hadn't 4×4 SUV (It was a rainy season and it would be better to rent SUV 4×4 for the nature trips as you need to drive partly on dirt rocky muddy roads). It's close to Tanga, so it took 15-20 min to get the caves. You pay for tickets by cash at the entrance (25€ roughly for 2 adults +1teen). Its include a local guide. After excursion your tips to the guide are welcomed. By the way, we hadn't got payment receipt, so we supposed our money went directly to administration pockets... We've seen impressive halls with thousands of bats living inside. It's easy walking except one short pass where you have to climb up and down. It's rather hot and stuffy inside caves passages. Some fresh water is recommended to take with. This visit is an excellent solution for a day trip outside Tanga. On your way to caves you can see wild monkeys.

I have been to the caves twice before once as a kid in the 90s and another time as a teacher leading a group of students in 2014.
This time I went with a friend and the trip was better than the previous two times. Our volunteer guide was very knowledgeable and made the tour of the caves. He was very excited two locals have come to visit the caves as our government overlooks domestic tourists in the majority of their ad campaigns.
There is a bit of graffiti in certain parts of the caves. However, our guide was great and I loved everything about the tour.

On our way from Peponi Beach Resort to the Fish Eagle Point, we visited these caves. Entrance is good to find but entrance road can be difficult when wet.
I found the prices steep for what was on offer and didn’t like the guide asking for extra money when leaving: I mean we already paid for the entrance and I think this was more than enough for this trip.

8 kilometers outside of Tanga in Mombasa road you turn left and again after some kilometers you will reach to Amboni caves one of the most attractive and mysterious caves in Africa. there is many stories about this cave between locals same as living of many ghosts inside cave or the point that other end of cave is in mount Kilimanjaro and etc. you can't go inside by yourself and just should accompany the guides.inside cave is not any electric light and you can use just yours or your guide torch and there is one story about this item to that tell they installed 5 times electric lights inside cave and all times ghosts destroyed that. inside you will see very beautiful scenery and be careful because is full of bats but they really don't disturb you.finally here is very beautiful attraction and is 100% recommended.

Extremely delighted that I went there. Difficult to explain the sheer thrill of walking in the bowels of the earth between stalactites and stalagmites!

They keep a live monkey tied to a stick for entertainment at the visitor gate. Animal cruelty from the middle ages, despicable.

The caves, which can be reached in about 20 minutes by tuktuk from Tanga center, are a beautiful place to go.

Even though the whole tour through two of the caves only took a little over an hour, it was a nice experience. The shapes and surprisingly big halls formed by the ocean millions of years ago impressed us a lot. In addition the guide tells some interesting stories and tales around this place.

We went with Zero, a super friendly and great guide. The entrance is 20,000TSH per person, even though as students, we only paid 10,000TSH each. Plus the tip for the guide and 16,000TSH for both ways, we spend less than 50,000 (~ 22$) for a nice afternoon. Recommendable!

I was surprised to see a shape of a Lizard inside the cave. God is wonderful. I urge people to visit the caves to witness this.
