Yes, it’s full of tourists. (Reader, I was one of them!) Yes, It’s busy. But above all it’s great fun. Lots of stalls to browse: food, clothes, souvenirs and more. Live music. Plenty of cafes and restaurants. Easy to park. Beautiful countryside. The best market...More
Luckily, a friend who moved to Paris 40 years ago suggested if we wanted a true Provence market experience, skip the one in Aix and go to the weekly market in Lourmarin. Everything was laid out so beautifully, it was as pretty as the Impressionist...More
We ran into a couple of markets during our stay in the Provence, some of them small, some bigger and pittoresque, but the Lourmarin market proved to be the biggest and interesting of them all.

We went to Lourmarin's Tuesday evening market, (5:30 - 8:30), and found it nice and small with lots of fruits, vegetables and meats. Nothing like the Friday in town market, but if you're just looking for local produce, etc., this one will do and it's...More

You see locals doing their produce shopping and...More
We visited on a Friday market day, arriving later than planned which meant driving around to find a parking place since the area was jammed packed with cars. Once we got to the market, it was great fun to wander and see the offerings- really...More
Probably the best market in the area. We travelled from Cabrières-d’Avignon through Bonnieux and then over the mountains to Loumarin. It is a spectacular drive, although a bit tight in spots. That said it’s a wonderful view and highly recommended.
The Loumarin town was very...More
