Take the very long flight of covered steps up the wall to the top!

I spotted the unusual narrow wooden roof and wooden supports atop the medieval wall making its way up the hill behind Esslingen and was intrigued. We decided to investigate and discovered it was a covered stone staircase to the top of the hill. We finally reached the top and were really glad we had made the effort, as we had... More

A must if you are in Esslingen. You can walk on these castle walls like the archers did in past. It has an amazing view of the city too. There are many benches for you to sit and relax.

Sitting atop a hill overlooking Esslingen, you can either walk up an ancient stone staircase of 300 steps or drive your car to ample, free parking next the Burg. We visited on a Saturday morning and there were no less than three wedding parties taking photos of the bride and groom in the scenic setting. There is much to explore... More

Interesting and easy acces, also for handicaped people, parking for cars close by and a thrilling view on the historic town and beautiful landscape.

It is not really a castle but a remaining piece of the old city walls, it is basically a huge circle of walls and buildings that surround a nice greenfield. There is a bar/restaurant in one of the buildings that offers good food and drinks and a nice balcony to sit. In addition there is plenty of room to relax... More

I was in Esslinger for a business trip. Most of my visit involved meetings during the day, and dinner in the evening. With every restaurant we had dinner at, the service and food was delicious. I wish I wrote down the names of the restaurants to share with you. I am such a fussy eater, and I must say -... More

I'm unsure if there is an easier way up the hill, but we took a road up (with a jogging stroller) about 180m and the views were amazing! I was wishing that the biergarten was open when we reached the top but they are closed on Mondays. There is a wonderful park for children to play and many benches around... More

You can drive up there and park nearby. This castle is ancient and really nice- we take our international guests here, because of the historic value, the nice floral decoration and the great view over the city. Great playground upfront, old original cannons for kids to sit on and a nice restaurant with original ancient knights armour stuff. Great place
