Starnberg is a quick ride along the S6 line and is a perfect day trip if you're looking to get out of Munich. The lake is one of the deepest in Europe and is a popular diving locale. Whether you decide to stroll along the strand, rent a paddle or row boat or go aboard one of the large tourist... More

We were fortunate to eat at a Restaurant on our last visit so were able to watch all the activities of others. Most of the Bavarian Lakes are a stunning blue colour and this is no exception. Well worth a trip!

Had an awesome and peaceful holiday by Starnberger See at Possenhofen/Pōcking village...a very peaceful village and locals are very friendly and helpful. We would love to visit again but maybe during summer! ;o) Being in a village, it would be advisable to have your own car for groceries etc or you would need to travel to the next town i.e.... More

I ´ve took a train from the Munich, whats the best how to get there if you are without a car. It took a few minutes and costed about 7.50 euro, (it´s one day ticket) The train stop by the lake, and it is just few steps to get to the water! At first you´ll see the beauty of Alps,... More

Really pretty area with views over to the mountains. Gets busy at weekends with cyclists and loads of walkers. Worth the trek

Two days here; two very different hikes along the beautiful shoreline. The walk along the promenade in Starnberg on a sunny day with cyclists, kids, and cafes was great. The very next day, hiking from Pocking in the wet snow through the forests and country homes that line that part of the shore was even better.

Just a short ride on the S-Bahn, it is a relaxing escape from the bustle of Munich. There are restaurants and walking paths. You can take several different boat rides on the lake to view castles, monasteries and villas, all with the alps in the background. A great day trip, especially if you don't have access to a car.

We decided to visit Starnberger See on our way to Linderhof to round out our trip that included some of the Ludwig II sites. The site where Ludwig II was found dead is marked by a memorial in the lake. There is also a small memorial chapel that is currently under renovation (Aug-16) There are signs for the memorial, but...
