What a concept - an elevated walkway that facilitates long walks on an elevated semi-even surface along the ocean and estuary. The elevated walkway also protects the delicate beach grasses and birds from unneeded and damaging traffic and pets. When not wanting to walk on the boardwalk, you cna easily exit onto the beach and walk along the surf line. Sublime experience.

Great little walk all along the coast around Alvor and out onto the wetlands. Beautiful views even on an overcast day.

If you are staying out of the main town this is a much prettier and safer way of getting into the town, it also has a few eateries along the way.

Just remember to walk on the right as it can be a little busy at times.

Myself and my wife wandered down to Lagos and came across this wonderful walkway. We walked along the wooden walkway and stop for an ice cream at a café. We continued walking onto the beach and then left towards the harbour. What a fantastic idea the walkway was a credit to the local area.

For walks really great! For example, along the beach to the estuary and on the wooden jetties back to the port of Alvor! The paths are great to walk and you can experience the area between river and sea. Also suitable for strollers and wheelchairs!!!!

You park at the port of Alvor. There is a small free parking space here. In February there were still some parking spaces to be found - in summer it will probably be difficult.
From the parking lot, go left into the dunes.
The path runs through the dunes and is completely fixed with wooden planks. A wide wooden walkway, left and right with railings, to prevent visitors from walking over the dunes worth protecting.
You can walk a "small lap" of just under 2 km, or extend the lap and then run a total of about 4 km.

That's quite nice for walking, but honestly, I don't find it scenically exciting, because it offers no variety.
Every now and then, small jetties go off to the side, from which you can look over the sea and the beach. But that's about it.

This was our first trip to the Algarve and Alvor did not disappoint. Access to the boardwalk was directly from the back of our hotel. What a beautiful place to enjoy warm winter walks - we walked along it every day we went towards the town or to walk across the cliffs to the next resort. Great views and you can continue on your the nature reserve to see local wildlife although we didn’t venture that far. We used it in the evenings to access local restaurants dotted along the back of the beach but there is no lighting so had to watch our step but were gifted the light of a full moon and there’s a sports centre near the town end so their floodlights helped to guide us. We walked along another boardwalk where they had solar lights - this would be a great bonus for Alvor.

A good walk or comfortably by bicycle. It is a wooden fence of good width. It runs more or less parallel to the sea line, and paths lead out to the sea every few meters. There is an area where you see the water of the marshes full of people doing Kay.
It's not a very long walk either and you can even go barefoot.

Relaxed nature trail straddled between restaurant heaven and seaside bliss!!! The Alvor Boardwalk offers the chance to take a simple stroll as an independent destination or in accompaniment with an exploratory trip to the village of Alvor for dining or to the beach (Praia de Alvor and Praia dos Tres Irmaos). The walkways were well kept and peaceful. Parking nearby. There is one restaurant with an awesome ocean view at the end of the Boardwalk but a couple of dozen on the streets of Alvor just a couple hundred yards away from the parking area. Just keep walking and you'll be amazed!!

This is lovely route to walk both on wooden paved routes as well on the beach. We have visited the site many years for a walk. We saw few birds, far away, because there were too many water and other dogs running around loose. We then did bird watching tours elsewhere. Anyway, great for pedestrians. And BTW we don't have anything against dogs.

Refreshing early morning walk with beautiful views looking out to the estuary and back towards Alvor village/town. Lovely morning fresh air with sights of boats on calm estuary waters. Fully recommend a stroll or a jog in the morning if you're an early riser before the day starts to get a little busier.
