The statue is massive close up. You have to sit down to take a picture of the statue. It was unfortunately full when we visited. People are however very polite and give each other space to take pics. Make sure you go as soon as the skin especially are clear! Do not postpone! The weather changed fast and the possibility of leaving Rio without seeing it are big if you don't grab an opportunity when available. It was a worthy experience to see this iconic statue in person.

Cristo Redentor Rio. God is always watching in Rio..
Instead of catching the bus up I did the 90 walk with a Norwegian couple who I met at the start of the trail. Well worth the climb except soaked at the top. No soldiers on this track. But still had to ask if it was safe today!
Thankfully I did not send the pics with my shirt off at the top. I redid the photos🙄
The view again amazing. Could would come and go so I like the pics with the cloud cover to.
There was a small Chapel under the statue🙏
Feeling lazy so caught the train down.

A must see landmark on a visit to Rio. The views are amazing. Try to go on a clear day, though, as clouds can interfere with seeing the top of the statue.

My wife and I visited the monument on 11 July 2017 using the official Park minibus system based at Praco do Lido. The ride up with first driver and the visit to the monument were great but the experience for me was completely spoiled by the return drive to Copacabana. The driver of KXR 8820 had no regard for the comfort of his passengers, driving far too fast on the bumpy part of the road down, even overtaking another Park vehicle, and driving in a manner through the city traffic that was aggressive even by Rio standards. Try to choose your driver if you can!

There are 2 ways to see this wounder of the world. One is to take the tram up a a very steep tram. This is great value and a real experience. The 2nd is to hire a helicopter and fly around the magnificent statue.
We were so impressed we did both. Crazy not to take these opportunities. It is a wonder...!

Very worthwhile to visit. It is after all one of the new 7 wonders of the world. Easy to get to even though you have to present your ticket to about 3 people after entering and leaving. Redundancy pervades in Brazil.
This statue can be seen from almost anywhere in the city.
Highly recommend it.
