We were driving back to Paris from the Normandy region and this location is right on the way. It makes an excellent place to stop for a few hours. I had read the previous reviews and was not sure what to expect. The Chateau is definitely a work in progress, as much of the building needs refurbishment. But for us... More

Magnificent on the outside - not so on the inside. I'm travelling solo with my miniature Schnauzer throughout France. I'm in total disbelief that that I cannot even tie him up in the courtyard of the chateau, let alone take him on lead throughout the large orchard gardens. I've also been in England and Scotland and this request was not... More

Hands up, I'm a War enthusiast. The history part, not the fighting bit. I went to the Chateau for one reason, its connection with Erwin Rommel. Truthfully there is, apart from a bunker with nothing relevant to WW2 in it, not much to see as regards Rommel. So if your interest is purely like me its a waste of time... More

We enjoyed wandering through this chateau during September. Very quiet so plenty of time to explore each room and to slowly make our way up all the steps, through the cliff, to the keep at the top. Rewarded with stunning views once there. Real shame the rooms no longer have their paintings and furniture (sold to pay death duties), and... More

Be prepared to climb if you want a view!! Amazing chateau, when we visited there was a display of chairs from different eras and functions. Great views a from the tour. A steep long climb.

The attractiveness of the castle is the way it has been constructed, against the rocks and overlooking the river Seine. The castle garden between the castle and the river is amazingly well restored. The castle itself isequally well restored. Not much Original furnitue. Possibility to visit the from the castle the tower overlooking the rriver. Access is spectacular through the... More

On our way to Normandy we went here since Rommel (the german command of the Atlantic wall) had his Headquraters here. The place is in a quiete village and we arrived just as they opened so we there were very sparse with people. There is exbition of modern furniture, a dungeon (with some German shelter artifcats still intact) and a... More

The way the chateau was built on the side of the cliff is amazing. The tunnels that the germans dug during the war were interesting. The owners live there above the levels we visited. There were some school groups there on the day we visited so we weren't able to stay in some rooms but we still able to see... More

We were staying at Giverney to visit Monet's garden and house. The lady from our accommodation recommended we visit La Roche-Guyon. We are pleased we did! It is a beautiful village on the bank of the Seine. The chateau has a fascinating history which I won't repeat here as others have done an excellent job of that. It costs 7euro... More
