This is an awesome spot for photos. The castle, the surrounds and if you're fortunate enough to get good weather it's a real bonus. There are so many castles in Ireland but this one is very worthwhile.

Visited the castle and took the tour. The castle is Norman, but we could still go inside and climbed up to the top. The guide was funny and knowledgeable. We learned about the history and way of life of the builders. The castle was used...More

I visited Trim Castle while on a short holiday break staying at Rathmolyon just up the road. We were greeted at the gates by an actor in full regalia for the period who was very friendly (regardless of his sword) and quite funny. He insisted...More

If you're driving around Ireland try to stop off and see this impressive castle. It's easily the best castle in Ireland. It's huge and also free to walk around outside. If you're a fan of Braveheart it's a must-see.

If you like Braveheart, this is the place you should see. Impressive castle, where some parts of the motion picture Braveheart were taken.

Just a fabulous site crammed full of Irish history of the Norman era. Be sure to take the castle keep tour. Fascinating.

Probably the best guided tour we had in Ireland. This castle was what I had in mind when we talked about visiting castles in Ireland. We had the history of the additions to the castle as well as the history of the people who controlled...More

Yes the tours are at regular times, you should go and google Trim Castle and find the seasonal information. The tour lasts about 45 minutes and is very infoprmative and amusing.

We were in a bus trip! Our bus driver gave us information outside the castle about it's construction and purpose. He then gave us a little information inside, and then left us on our own to explore!
