Literally just outside the walls of Pienza lies this architecturally interesting little church. Don't expect frescos, but look at the simple architecture so typical for the Romanesque style.

A bit out of the city but worth the drive (5 minutes). It's a really old church with a interesting atmosphere. Don't miss the catacomb.

This very old church offers peace of mind. It is brilliantly located and overseen by many tourists. The architecture is very special, especially on the architraves. It was one of the favourite churches of St. Francis.

There's nothing here save for this simple, elegant little church that seems ancient and quite holy. It's strangely haunting and in a beautiful spot. Walk a little further down the road past the church and you'll see the "Gladiator' road.

The silence was broken by the soft sounds of water trickling into the small pool, on the right as you come down the narrow road. Bees were drinking and frogs were sunning themselves in the algae green basin. It was tranquil, empty, essentially still. Though...More
