With stunning views across Easter Ross to Ben Wyvis, Tollie Red Kites...

With stunning views across Easter Ross to Ben Wyvis, Tollie Red Kites provides close-up views of our most graceful bird of prey. A team of volunteers feed the birds every day and you can watch them feed from the comfort of a specially-converted farmstead building.

Tollie Red Kites is a partnership between RSPB Scotland and the Brahan Estate.

Entry by donation, suggested £5.

We visited this RSPB reserve to see the kites being fed. It is worth checking their website for the time (it changes in Summer). They are impressive, agile birds of prey. We were lucky enough to see 12 (but this varies - they are wild birds and will do as they please!). We were able to choose to stand outside... More

What a delight to see these iconic birds at such close quarters. There are places for photographers outside and indoor watching for spectators. The volunteer who was feeding the birds on the day of our visit was a fount of knowledge with an easy way of sharing information. The latter part of the farm road up to it needs a... More

Took my Grandson here whilst in the Black Isle on holiday and heading through Dingwall. We were a bit sceptical as to whether an 18 month old would enjoy it but he LOVED it. We went at feeding time and I don't know who was more fascinated, my Grandson or my Hubby, so many oohs and ahhs from both of... More

We went here last May. It is a bit off the beaten track, but worth a visit. The red kites are amazing. As you travel around Ross-shire you can usually spot them soaring, but it's special to see them swoop in to feed. Was also thrilled to see a yellow hammer and a woodpecker. The road up is quite rough... More

We stopped off here on the way back from a trip to Loch Ness. We didn't have our binoculars but we had a good camera. The more serious birders had zoom lenses on their cameras and probably got a better view. We thought we had missed feeding time but the food showed up at 2 pm and they fed the... More

Thank you for your comments. We are looking to do something about the track once the forestry work has been completed and the large forestry vehicles have finally left the site. More

This is a must "go to" if you enjoy watching birds, especially magnificent Raptors, feeding time is the best time to be there.

Stumbled across this place by pure accident and thought we would explore. We were the only people here and judging by the ice on the track we were the first to arrive that day. No birds to be seen from the hide but on the drive there we did see a red kite and kestrel. I imagine at feeding time... More

Off the beaten path not too far from Dingwall you will find an RSPB station run by local volunteers. The volunteers feed the birds and share information about the different species found locally. We saw buzzards and red kites at the feeding station and learned a lot about the historic persecution of raptors in the area. We didn't know much... More

Just missed the organised feeding at 13:30 but kites still in the area. Magnificent birds! Great place to watch them and the surrounding area.

This is a great well reserve in a scenic location ran by the volunteers and the RSPB. It's a great opportunity to watch these gracious birds of prey up close. Also keep your eye out for Ospreys (as well as other wildlife) from Spring to Autumn as they breed nearby. If you are remotely interested in wildlife then this really... More
