Most sites are large and we'll laid out but man the dirt road for the trailers to get around is a million pot holes. Time to do some maintenance on the road, get some more gravel down or some other solution, maybe black top because you quite literally have to go 5km/hr or less unless you want to do serious damage to your truck and trailer. The playground was quite nice, and the beaches were good and you basically have it to yourself.

This park has 1.5 km of sand beach. Its shallow and warm. The park is fairly small and has good paddling and fishing options. The staff are friendly. There is no store but there is a motel up the road. The highway is right beside the park and has a railway crossing. The train has to use a whistle. We heard as early as 7:30 am and as late as 9:40. The dog beach is just as nice as the regular beach. There is hiking trail to a waterfall outside of the park just down the road. If you want to swim or paddle this is a great park if you can live with the train and highway noise.

Mixed feelings about this one! Beautiful lake and beaches, some very good sites, but a very close and LOUD train a few times a day and every night! No train warning on the website like there is for Oastler Lake PP. Also, the lake is very heavily populated with cottages/houses and the lake is very removed from the campground. Loved the nearby A.Y. Jackson falls and the town of Chelmsford! Great for day use!

We stayed in a yurt. It was properly cleaned, though we gave it a good wipe down just to be sure. Fewer amenities, which was to be expected. The toilets were better than expected - smelly of course but surfaces were quite clean - though I did wonder about the stagnant air in there being hazardous in COVID times. Otherwise, a pretty good park. Swimming was far away. In-park trail was kind of nice. A.Y. Jackson trail just down the road was spectacular and challenging. I personally loved the train noise - it was loud but sounded awesome ricocheting around the great outdoors. I can see why people dislike it, but to me, that's just part of camping.

This is a park to avoid..we stayed in a cabin $145 a night because we have dogs. Hiding behind Covid they removed all amenities so the cabin was a shell. The pit toilets that were to be used were absolutely disgusting. If you are going to put in regulations about Covid then clean the place up. We visited 2 other cabins in the provincial park system and they were beautiful with all amenities. Flush, clean toilets and the cabins were clean. Windy lake cabin still had garbage from previous campers. Filthy.......get a new contractor..

We love the beach & such clean water .. so very refreshing .. fond memories of my dad telling me that the picnic tables at the park in the mid 60's were built by inmates he guarded where he worked

We used to live quite near to this lake and Provincial Park and visited very often. Beach is busy on hot summer weekends. Lake stays cool all summer because it is quite deep at over 100 ft. Fishing is good for pickerel. Obey the park rules and you will have a great time.

It is an okay park we stopped by to see what is there to do. Just took a couple of pictures and left. Not worth visiting unless you canoe or go on the water.

Just went for the day to use the boat launch - great little area.
Windy Lake has some good bass fishing.
The beach was lovely.
The outhouses near the boat launch could be cleaned more frequently and thoroughly.

Hi thank you for the review. I will be renting Yurt 24 and was wondering if there is a field in front for kids to run around?

It’s a good size lot with a long driveway and the park is a 2 min walk

Is there wifi available in the park

Not in the group campsites we’ve been at. They may have wifi at the gatehouse. I’d suggest calling the park to find out.

Hello. How is the fishing at Windy Lake PP? Specific species? Can you fish from land or do you need a boat? Any info is appreciated. Thank you in advance
