We were very disappointed that the visitor centre was closed when we went. It is only open Thursday to Sunday from 9:00 to 16:00. It is a pity as we hoped to get some information re the falls and the Mountain.
We had a lovely walk to the Dawson Falls, view of Mt Taranaki, view of the surrounding land south of the mountain, and a very friendly, helpful ranger who gave us a lot of information of the local setting, animal & bird life.

The falls are a bit of a walk but if you climb down to the bottom it is all worth it, ensure you wear enclosed shoes as the tracks can be a little damp and slippery in areas, have a look at the old water...More
