We stopped at the lake on our way from Christchurch to Queenstown. This little gem of a lake is the most beautiful turquoise green because of the glacial material in the waters. There is a little stone building with a viewing area that is so...More

This lake is so amazing. Its colours, and the scenery around it, the mountains, the church, and everything, just makes the place so beautiful. It is a must-stop when you are travelling between Queenstown and Christchurch. A night or two would suffice.

At the heart of this community lies a small stone church, set against a backdrop of snow capped mountains and the most serene turquoise lake I've ever seen. We travelled to Tekapo to photograph the night sky, and I have never seen a night sky...More

Amazing. A must see. Nature at its absolute best. Frost atop the roof of the old stone building just added to the beauty of the scenery. Simply stunning.

We stayed at Lake Tekapo for an evening and loved it. The lake is a beautiful blue, and the hills were highlighted with color as the sun went down. Picture perfect (no pun intended...!!!)

We planned a stopover on the drive from Milford Sound to Christchurch and this place didn't disappoint. It was the most pristine lake with ice capped mountains and it blew me away with its beauty.

It does depend what you want to do, there are water sports, hot springs, skiing in winter, it's very picturesque, probably 2 to 3 days.
