We found this little gem after we had finished dinner at a local restaurant. What a truly lovely spot. We stayed for awhile the kids went swimming, we watched the sunset. It was a beautiful spot. The beach was clean and there was shade if you wanted it.
We had hopped to return the next day but it was raining.
This is def. going to be on the list for next year.
The beach wasn't crowed and the people there were very friendly.

No parking, no restrooms, no restaurants. no gas, no sand beach, water is freezing. Full of people from GTA looking for nirvana. Nice if you owned a property but everyone here has escaped GTA and not looking back.
The local industry is building contractors, not tourists (to be fair I didn't spend a dime anyway).

What a wasted trip. Had lunch at lions pub which was good. A bit overboard with the Covid- placing the food and water on an table next to you for us to get. We were outside! There is paid parking $3 /hr I think, EVERYWHERE in the area where the local businesses /beach area is. At the beach it’s $5/hr. I think this was implemented to discourage people from coming here because it’s ridiculous. If I want to go for lunch at pub it’s pay more for parking then lunch, same for stopping at bakery to get some baked goods. Same for stopping for ice cream. The WORST part is, you don’t even know where to pay! There are pay stations here and there and not on every block so the whole thing is very confusing and almost seems like a joke. The beach seems nice enough but it was too cold to really go in. When we got to lions head Parking was full and even though people will leave so someone can go in, they don’t allow you to make a line. You have to leave than come back in hopes someone leaves as u are going, which is never going to happen. Waste of time going here.

This is the Lion's Head Beach.

Although that the sand, it is pebbles.

They Still come here to see bodies of water.

There is on the beach a hanging of a metal dolphin.

There are a lot of kayaks on the bodies of water.

Others look at the mountains.

A must see!

The water is extremely cold on the Georgian Bay side of the peninsula. With Covid the local residents DO NOT WANT TOURITST to the point that a once loved gem has people being shamed for being there. Due to this shaming many tourist are not visiting local attractions. Or supporting local businesses.

We stopped there after our hike, to eat our lunch. Being at the end of September, there were still a few parking spots and a picnic table was free for us. The view is beautiful and it was a quiet little place to enjoy our lunch.

This 2020 summer, with covid and all, the city people have come to enjoy some open space. The problem is this little village can't handle the 1000 plus visitors a day. The beach/shore is small and has been taken up by 500 plus a day, having bbqs and making lots of noise and not respecting boundaries. The locals haven't been able to enjoy the beach as they once did.
The Lion's Head Look Out is another problem area. Thanks to TOBlog, listed as a must see with turquoise waters and sandy beaches. Honestly the water is frigid and is only beautiful on a perfect summer day.
There is very limited parking for the trail access. Parking is 1 km away at the arena. Many day trippers choose to park on side streets, parking on both sides of the narrow roads, and making it impossible for traffic and emergency vehicles to get through and locals unable to get into their driveway.

The trail to the Lion's Head Lookout is very strenuous. Lots of boulders and ups and downs. Not to mention the 200 ft drop to the water. No fences or safety barriers. Not for small children or dogs!. Its a 4 hr round hike. You cannot swim there, you cannot camp there. No fires or bbqs. No flip flops.
The day trippers are ruining this community. They don't give back, they bring their own food and bbq on private property, leaving their garbage, and then head back home.
So sad.

If you come here please stay in a hotel, B&B, or campground. Illegal campers are ruining a true gem. People can afford big bucks on an RV and then cheap out by not renting a camp site. Space is limited and illegal campers are filling it up.

Loved this beach and liked how it was so close to where we were staying while in Lions Head. Spent lots of time here
