The day we took the boat trip along the coast was foggy. As a result there was not a lot to see. I'd recommend you just find another activity when the weather restricts the views.

We booked on line for this on February 8, however, when we arrived we learned that the ice had not yet begun to break up due to the “non compliant” NE Wind. The staff did not mind that we cancelled the booking. The boat sailed as scheduled taking passengers for a short cruise to see any wildlife that might be... More

This event is strongly recommended for those whos plan to visit Abashiri in winter. Advise: taking the first or second cruise in morning. Remember to wear warmer base layer plus outer, wearing mask and groove perhaps ski pants at tbe bottom to keep yourself warmer because it is nicer standing at the decking rather than sitting inside the cruise to... On our first day of arrival, the drift ice cruise was cancelled. Next morning we decided to try again and yes! There's drift ice to be seen. I wasn't expecting to see drift ice in March but yeah we were lucky. Be sure to get there early to catch the first cruise out. Ask them if there'll be drift ice... More

A couple of bus stops away from Abashiri Station (200 Yen via Bus, there's a bus timing schedule at the bus stop at Abashiri Station). Check with the hotel if the cruise is still operating for the day as the cruise may be cancelled due to weather or if no drift ice is sighted). The drift ice cruise terminal is... More

We had been very lucky as our tour guide had mentioned earlier that it depends on the weather! Many tour had been cancelled due to weather, waves or rough sea but fortunately when we arrive , everything is good. It took one hour for the cruise. Even though the ice are not in big pieces but we are still able... More

The day we got there, there were no drift ice to be seen on our ship's route. It was explained the drift ice is blown in by certain winds, tides, etc. Still it was a nice experience. They sold special Abashiri beer -- buy the 2-pack and get a deal. They had a tub of drift ice on board so... More

Probably due to global warming there was no ice to break and no drift ice to be seen in the dead of winter. Just an expensive cruise out in the cold with nothing to see. Most patrons were napping on board with the TV looping endlessly "what a pity there's no drift ice but you can purchase their DVD" which... More

I had this booked for me and my girlfriend to do while we were in Asahikawa. We had rented a car in Asahikawa so it was a 3 hour drive for us only to find there was no drift ice on the day we had booked. The cruise still went ahead and we got a partical refund without even asking... More

Very disappointed to have booked this cruise for today (Jan 25, 2016) , travelling from Kushiro to arrive and be told all cruises had been cancelled for the day. They had my email and booking number but did not have the courtesy to let us know of the cancellation. A wasted day on our holiday- not very impressed with this... More
