The Jasmund National Park is home to the magnificent chalk coast of the island of Rügen and the Jasmund peninsula with its hilly plateau. Beech forests, chalk cliffs and the sea form fascinating scenery, which cast its spell over the artists of the Romantic period and even today has lost nothing of its stunning attraction. Within the 3,102-hectare protected area, the largest contiguous beech forest on the Baltic coast covers 2,100 hectares of land.As a UNESCO World Heritage Area "Ancient Beech Forests of Germany", a representative section of landscape, partially unaffected by humans, in the east of the Jasmund National Park was identified, which extends from the drift line of the Baltic, up the steep coast to the plateau. The size of the area is 493 hectares.

We visited on a cloudier day. Not lots of people on the hike which was nice. Parking was expensive! Also restrooms were poor and not cleaned. Not a lot of choices for different routes to take and basically whole way was under the tree canopy...More

The beech woods, cliff walk and views are very pleasant and worthy of a visit. The audio visual at the main building is better than average and quite informative - and there is a good cafe adjacent

All the warning signs are in german and the entry to the best paths are not that well marked. In general the singing could be better. The park it self is very nice. There are no safety lines arround the cliffs, so you enter at...More

Nice place but it`s enough to see it once in my life. Good idea is also rent a boat and see Königsstuhl from the sea.

Beautiful beech forests but too many other tourists and too easily accessible. We hiked from Lohme to Königsstuhl and back, first along the beach/hochoberweg and back along the inland bike trail. Nice lunch in Lohme to round of the morning.

By walking around you can simply enjoy the nature and its views. Parking might be a bit of a hassle but I am afraid I do not have a smart, general advice. Bring some time so that you can truly relax and enjoy.
