This Romanesque Crypt, Museum and Archaeological site was closed much to my disappointment. It was one of the treasured unique places I had expected to see. I missed the sights including the crypt of the preserved, the tomb, the altar, artifacts, stone work and macabre depictions amongst other things. This was a big miss for me because of the uniqueness of it all.

Very strange church - like nothing you will have ever seen before with decomposing priests’ bodies standing in a showcase. The, side by side. They have been in that position for centuries ! Really worth the visit

Right at the front door you face a galery where they have important priests bodies decomposing, standing up on a showcase, side by side. They are there for centuries and not only the body conditions, clothes and acessories impress by its conditions. Impactual, there is no way you ser this and feel nothing. Inside also there a importante tomb at the botton of the altar together with a saint, also a Strong image to see. Rare and different place to visit.

As the other reviewers, this is a must next to the Cathedral and extremely interesting. I would have loved to have spoken to a guide or done a bit more research before I went there. It is certainly like no other Church I have been to, just stay out of the small room on the left if you want to avoid the mummified priests!

I totally understand the history of churches like this and the exterior showing heaven, hell and purgatory is fascinating. The interior is well done but the display of mummies was not for me!

Was not expecting to see the bodies of previous inhabitants of the city, but there they were! The Baroque church itself is quite stunning, both inside and out.

This church is not dedicated to suffering as I thought but the passage from life to death. The symbols of skulls nad skeletons on the entrance and the door are amazing. There is a small room on the left of the entrance high displays the desiccated bodies of priests dressed in robrs which is a bit macabre but fascinating. We were so lucky to see inside nad also to have been given the reason for the name.

Church is very old and good looking outside. Inside You will find old monk’s mummies which is a bit creepy, but I don’t think so You will have a nightmares next night.

I think is worth to take a look for snapshots and go further.
