Great restaurant and cafe to enjoy a birra or spritz. Really a special place.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten September 23, 2023

We travelled by train from Bari, it’s short, 30-35 minutes, comfortable and cheap (3,60 EUR). I think Monopoli is one of the most beautiful places of Puglia. It presents the authentic Italian culture. The Old Town is a faboluos place with its narrrow streets and old historic buildings. We enjoyed walking there.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten January 24, 2024

Arrived by train from Ostuni (€6 each), ten minute walk from the station to our apartment, which was on the front overlooking the beach. Stunning white washed buildings, beautiful little shops and lots of restaurants. We walked around for a couple of hours and stopped at little bars in the town, then wandered down to the beach front, the water looks stunning! Too cold for a dip, but definitely worth a beach holiday here.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten May 7, 2024

Whitewashed, old, historic, stunning, cosy and very charming port town. Mix of local/ tourist daily way of life here.
I found the locals very helpful and friendly as its a plesure to get lost in the winding back streets of the old town.
No big sights to see but this adds to the overall package of this somewhat "secret gem "of a place.
Train station is very close and user friendly for folk who do not want to drive but want to visit other local towns.
Ostuni is on a train route and is one of the nicest hill towns we have ever seen.
Magnificent and Magic Monopoli.

We stayed in Monopoli for 4 weeks and used it as a base for exploring Puglia. We stayed in old the historic town and just loved it. Loads of lovely walks, restaurants and little beaches. The people are absolutely wonderful. Couldn’t recommend visiting Monopoli enough!!

When you are around, take at least 1-2 hours to visit the charming historial center of Monoploi.
Highlights are th Porto Antico (old port) and the Carlo V Castle with the medieval city walls.
But also strolling through the narrow streets is highly recommended.

As some reviews say, no big sights to see. However, Monopoli definitely worths a visit, especially to those who travel Puglia for the first time. It was less touristy than Poligano a Mare. So, you may discover the authentic lives of Apulian residents. The beach near to the Centro Storico was also beautiful, and full of the local.

The historical centre is great, full of life. Mix of locals and tourists living throughout the area. Fabulous costal views, narrow streets, cafes and restaurants dotted throughout which really come to life in the evening. Lovely picturesque old port with its clear waters and blue boats. The buildings from the past are used to their best potential. Numerous photo opportunities in this lovely area, narrow streets, arches, views.

Hi! Which bar / restaurants would you recommend? What are the prices like please?
We are going to Puglia 4-11th September 2019, and would be nice to get a feel for the place beforehand.
Any photos of restaurants menu would be helpful too!
Thanks in advance,
Kavita

Monopoli has a lot of restaurants in the old city. The prices are good and all of them look very nice. Te only thing is that everything is so croudy that is difficult some times to find a free spot :) But you just walk around and in the end you will make it. Monopoli in the evening is beautiful and you will have a lot of fun

Best place to hire a car would be in Bari airport or in Brindisi airport.

Bonjour
Merci d'avance pour info je pars lundi soir direction Vieste;
