Well worth getting out early to walk down to the most eastern point of Italy for a spectacular dawn and watch the sun rise out of the sea. Bellisimo

Only about 4kms from Otranto on a peaceful winding road you’ll land up here. No/one around, a short walk down to the lighthouse. Free. For me, spectacular!

I’d like us you’re driving along the coast, stop and have a look at the light house at Punts Palascia.

The most Easterly point of Italy. Not open when we visited. We walked along the coast from Otranto which at times is very challenging. There is a bay where you can swim about 1 hour from Otranto. It took about 2.5 hours to walk there but 1 hour back by road.

It may be that we went outside of the open season but it wasn't open and it is in need of a bit of paint. So don't get too excited by lighthouse. Nice views. Hard to find entrance as you can't see from road but just look for a military base...
It is a bit of walk down on a rough path so be careful if your walking isn't too good.

This is the most easterly point of Italy and one can see the Albanian coastline on a good day. Sensible shoes required as the path down is quite rocky, but worth the effort.

The coastal drive south from Leece is stunningly beautiful with blue ocean, sea breezes, and blurry images of land across the Adriatic Sea. Across is Albania and farther south is Greece.
We stop here to see the lighthouse and comprehend the meaning of being located at the most eastern point of Italy.

Unfortunately only reachable by private transport, this old lighthouse is a local favorite for a winter walk. Wind and rough waves are incredibly beautiful.

Hidden from view from the road, a short and lovely walk will take you to this stunning point. The scenery is amazing. Blue sea as far as the eye can see. Highly recommended. We were even lucky enough to see a shepard with his goats. We packed a picnic and ate on site. We were the only ones there for 2 whole hours. Idyllic

Sto a Otranto e vorrei andare a Punta Palascia.

Noi ci siamo andati in macchina.
