This tour is only in Italian, which is fine with us, but there were some visitors who were given discounts because it was obvious that they wouldn't understand a word. We ended up interpreting the whole thing into French for one couple. Our guide, Tiziana, was phenomenal, and thanked us profusely for having shared her information with those who couldn't... More

Didn't manage to see this because by the time we arrived and found any way to know when this attraction was open it was too late. We finally found out through a phone call to a tourist information office. Sardinian tourism should have this information on a website but they don't. This information was found out on July 14th 2016.

We read that Porto Flavia was going to be open to visitors during our visit and made a point of going there. It's the first mine in the area that we have visited but we had heard from many of the visitors to the area that the old mines are incredibly interesting. This one was very welcoming - they even... Quite a ride to get here, approx. 15 kms from Iglesias last kilometers over sandy road. Fun way to get there. Special harbour for mining goods made hundred years ago. Nice to visit but not an actual mine. Bit overprized (10 euro for 1 hour tour), but okay.

make sure to ask Marco and Tiziana at BB Pedra Rubia how to get there. it is not always open actually. normally only on weekends, bank holidays or on demand. people are very friendly so it shouldn't be a problem

We had the luck that we got a fantastic guide just for ourselves in english, as everybody else was with the italian group. She was really nice and told us interesting stories about the place, and gave even tips about what is worth to see in Sardinia. Porto Flavia is a fascinating place with spectacular views, well worth the visit!

portu cauli, located in the spectacular steepcoast between monteponi and buggeru is not easy to find, because the way is not well sign posted . shortly after nebida in direction to buggeru a road leaves the mainroad seawards. the road leads through a industrial area and ends directly on the coast on a big parking place. from there is is... We had booked a guided tour for a saturday morning but when we arrived at the mine the gate was closed! No-one there! There were about twenty other people waiting to get in, all disapointed. It should be the most interesting mine to visit, right on the edge of the sea with the Pan di Zucchero rock right in front... More

location is amazing... the road you drive from Portoscuso to Masua is a breathtaking coastline, we had to stop every 5 km for taking pics as we went there in a day with no wind, and sea was so bright and blue could not stop taking pics. Porto Flavia is a place full of interests, however i wish i could... More

This is an amazing place - both for its location and its history. Getting there (you need to get to the village called Masua) you will enjoy breathtaking views of the coastline and then you can learn about astonishing history of Porto Flavia as well as mining industry history on Sardinia. The visit is guided and the guide tells about... More
