Ocean itself is what really important. When the city has it, it's a treasure anyway. The proximity of port is not a plus, but the beach is wide, with places to enjoy, with surfing available, with sunsets to watch and with events to participate in.

Delightful walk with plenty of places to take a coffee or eat something. The walk is separated from the road so you are not bothered with cars

Great place to people watch, see surfers and just relax! We enjoyed it very much walking from the end of the tram from downtown, took maybe 45 minutes walking slowly where we had a beautiful Lunch in Matosinhos .

We walked along the promenade beside the beach. If you are interested in surfing there are several rentals on the beach which also provide surfing lessons. Lots of restaurants and bars along the way.
