We googled best beaches on costa Brava and this came in at number one, so we did this after visiting numerous others.
We would have put this well down the list, certainly after Llafranc which was clean, modern and prettier and with what looked like less touristy restaurants.
The sand is certainly not white as described in one of our searches and in fact is not sand, it is very small stones, so do not expect to be making sand castles.
We were lucky when parking as a car pulled out as we approached but otherwise be prepared for a hike if you intend to visit during the high season.
If you are in the area, then tick the box but really give it some serious consideration if intending to stay a week or so.....

I am not quite used to crowded public beaches but I enjoyed seating at a café watching the kids playing in the sand. The colors are a joy for the eyes, so beautiful.
The water is crystal clear (a bit cold for me...)

Lots of lovely restaurants to chose from to eat here. A Spar to shop in and ice cream bars dotted about. Very picturesque, right on the sea. A fabulous cove.
We went kayaking and that was great fun. €18 an adult for an hour, so priced fairly too. Take a towel to sunbathe, as no sun beds on offer- but that makes it all the more authentic/traditional.
Def worth a day trip.

We visited Tamariu beach while our stay at Costa Brava and absolutely loved it. We went there on a week day in September so I do imagine it gets much more busier in weekends, especially in summer. Do bear that in mind if you decide to go there.
The beach itself is not that big, but it is quite cosy and it has amazing views. It is also quiet calm for swimming.
There are lots of restaurants if you just want to have a meal or drink by the sea and some street artists that add some charm to the atmosphere. There are boat services.
There is parking by the beach, but if full, there is some parking 200 metres from the beach that is quite cheap for the whole day.
Overall, if you go to Costa Brava, try visiting the beach, you will enjoy it.

I spent two weeks in Tamariu across the Easter holidays in April earlier this year, with my parents.
Me and my Dad would spend every morning walking across the beach front and exploring across the rocks, early doors about 7:30am, and enjoy the views and the sun rising, before stopping off for a coffee and a quick rest to allow us to tackle the big hill back to our villa.
The beach is immaculate, always clean and is a massive sun trap. Restaurants lined up around the edge too which makes this look even more amazing.
The sea water is as clear as anything you're likely to find anywhere else too!
I had never been to Tamariu before, but I most definitely will be back. I fell in love with the place and this area in particular down on the front.

What a beautiful bay, surrounded on two sides by pine trees and by a small village.
The beach itself is coarse sand with some stones and rocks on the way in to the sea, but if you walk along the water line you'll find patches of pure sand which is a little easier on the feet. After a few days my peachy soft feet toughened up anyway!
The sea drops away in stages so it's perfectly safe for children to play in.
When we were there in September the water temperature was good - a little chilly but still plenty warm enough to swim in. There were plenty of people snorkelling (although not my thing). There were a few jellyfish, but easily avoided when we were there and local children were collecting them in nets then throwing them back with their hands, so I'm guessing not too poisonous.
There are lifeguards on patrol and you can hire paddle boards and kayaks if you wish.
We felt the area was safe enough to leave our belongings while we went swimming and weren't disappointed.
The beach is used by holiday makers from all over the world (we heard English, American, Spanish, French, Dutch and German voices) and by locals too, mostly couples or families.
The best part for us was that, although you had the "bustle" of the restaurants surrounding the beach, the resort itself is best described as quiet. No rowdy groups, no music blaring out from phones on the beach, just the background noise of people chatting and plates and glasses clinking as people enjoy a leisurely lunch.
A lovely place to visit or, if you're lucky enough, stay.
If visiting for the day, parking is available for free on the main street (if you're early enough) or we found two car parks (again both off the main street). One costing 2.80 Euros for the day, the other, a little walk further up, free.
Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful place, great to visit when the weather is nice but when it is not, there is not much to do, not even anywhere in the surroundings.

This beach is paradise. It feels like a big swimming pool with no waves and a perfect scenery. I was there for only the day but would have liked to stay more.

Anyone to know how to get here from Barcelona? Collblank station. And how long it will take?

By public transportation? I'm afraid it would take 3h. Collblanc - Sants- Girona - Palafrugell - Tamariu
If it's by car , it's about 1h30 taking into consideration the traffic situation at departure.
Hope this helps.
Regards

Yes. You can park your car in the village, it's less than 5 minutes by walk far from the beach.
Watch out : it's overcrowded in medium and high season. :)
Enjoy your stay there as much as we enjoyed it !
