You can only walk around it in the park but our family guide gave us some history. Interesting old building.

We went to the castle when it was unavailable for a visit. From the information I got, the castle can be visited only around the spring-summer time of the year. Although it was close, a walk around the surrounding place was possible. As the view is nice, such a walk is very pleasant. If one likes to take photos, this... More

Lovely little place for a walk. You can't go inside as it's a commercial building now but it is located on a lovely island which is worthy of a visit in its own right and for nice photos of the castle.

Most of the year you can visit the castle for free. You can drink coffee at the terrace and visit the two towers. The castle itself and its surroundings are great places to take (wedding) pictures. The castle itself is also very well equipped for weddings. See for more info the website. The castle itself is a part of the... More

This is a small compact town with lots to see. There is a fabulous working windmill that you can visit. A portion of wall that protects the town from the flooding river. Boats in a harbour and the river. A ferry. Then on to the castle set in a lake amongst high trees. Here you can sit and have refreshments... More

New to NL, we wanted to see some of the local castles. This one sits surrounded by water in a nice park. Locals stroll past. It is set up (owned or rented) by a catering company. Some times when they don't have events you can access the tower, but you will only see the event rooms. They also have a... More

This is one of the few castle ruins in the Netherlands. It is quite large and has one intact tower. It is not open to the public, but can be rented for special occasions such as weddings, and one can walk around it.

If you visit wijk bij duurstede its fine to go there. If you only go for this it can be disappointing. Went in that area to have a small walk. The castle isnt open for the public, but its fine to look at and walk around. The area is not that big.

I attend a wedding party in the castle. Amazing place with splendid view. It would be good to have some indications in the castle explaining the history Staff not professional!
