This is a charming area - and this museum worth a visit - Its right by the harbor but easy enough to find.

This is the place to be when visiting Breskens, this beautiful museum is partly made out of the fossil collection of Jan Goethals, a baker in Schoondijke Zeeland. It shows various aspects of marine life and most of all the life of the fishermen and the hard life on board of the vessels. I also shows half the skeleton of a pleistoce mammoth, made of the bones recovered from the sea bed in the fishermens nets. You have to see this when visiting Zeeland and most of all Breskens. I am one of the founders of this museum way back in 1989.

Expectations were low but we were pleasantly surprised. There is more information about the area though then about the fishing history. Set up in a simple way but nice. You can do some tests and there is a simulator. Good to visit when you are in the area.
