Overview
More
Minsmere is a great place to discover nature. The RSPB shop, cafe and visitor centre provide a perfect introduction before you explore the beautiful countryside walks. Enjoy stunning woodland, wetland and coastal scenery and close views of a wide range of wildlife, including many rare species. Families can begin their journey of discovery in the Wild Zone, or build a den in the Wildwood Adventure. The nearby Discovery Centre is perfect for school visits, birthday parties and exhibitions. Self-guided activities include a free explorer backpack to borrow, and there's a regular programme of events in school holidays. Seasonal wildlife highlights include: spring birdsong, nightingales and booming bitterns and nesting avocets; summer butterflies, flowers and nesting terns; autumn migrants, red deer rut and colour; winter ducks, evening roosts of birds and Christmas shopping. Volunteer guides are often available to help you identify Minsmere's varied wildlife.

Love this place, always something to see, great staff, great facilities, dog friendly parking. This has to be the best reserve the RSPB has, We've been to a few and this is superb,

This is one of the best nature reserves in the U.K. With a wide variety of habitats. We saw a Kingfisher within a few minutes. Kids had great fun.

We had a wonderful day out at Minsmere. We are not really birdwatchers, however paid £3 to hire a pair of binoculars and joined in. The staff were very helpful when we arrived and provided maps of the various walking routes. The reserve really is...More

The weather particularly on the second day was warm but not too hot. Not the best time of the year for birdwatching as transition stage between Summer and Winter visitors. Still pretty busy, and that is why I have a gripe about certain watchers who...More

First visit. Great 'welcome' at the reception in the visitor centre. Staff provided very helpful guidance about which areas to go to. Plenty to see. Will definitely return and spend longer there next time.

My daughter and I had arranged for a personal tour with an RSPB expert (Charles). This proved to be a fantastic idea. We are novice birdwatchers and wild life enthusiasts. Charles was able to point out insects, plants and birds. He was also able to...More

Minsmere has different activities for children throughout the school holidays. We went pond dipping and discovered lots of pond life. Children must be accompanied by an adult, but don't worry if you've never done it before, as the volunteers are great. They are very friendly,...More

Dogs are not allowed on the nature trails or in hides but there is a 5 mile walk around the reserve on public paths. The RSPB website has information for dog owners on the Plan a Visit page for Minsmere
