Based on reviews here and CruiseCritic, we took this tour last week. Want to add my recommendation to the others. From the moment of pick up to the return to the ship, don't think we could have been in better hands. The ticket taker turned out to be Spencer's daughter and she took us under her wing to make sure that my hubby's limited mobility (difficulty with long walks/uneven sufaces) was not a barrier to our enjoyment. We are most grateful. Our speedboat crew, Ryan and Lucky, were great and also were always there to provide assistance. We wanted to see a little more than just the beach, so we had opted for the volcano tour. The tour at the volcano is not long and is not by Spenser's, but is more than sufficient. We knew before booking that hubby would not be able to climb the stairs to the end of the short path, so the guide told all of the details from the closest point that he could get to. The waterfall was lovely and it was nice to drive through Soufriere for a quick peek. Then back to a speedboat to the beach between the Pitons for a great chicken lunch. This boat was captained by Spencer himself who just about picked up hubby like a leaf. After lunch, hubby decided to go into the water and then later had difficulty standing up at the water's edge. Several guests on the beach immediately came to his assistance and got him to his feet. Between their help and the staff of Spencer's, this was probably the best of all of our excusions for this cruise.

Thank you dianedebuda for taking the time to share your day on Spencer's Land, Sea & Beach Adventure. A positive guest experience is something my team and I take great pride in, so to receive your compliments about the hospitality of my team and to learn this was “probably the best” of all your excursions during your cruise is very uplifting feedback. It was a pleasure having the two of you on tour. We look forward to welcoming you on another exciting day of adventure next time your travels bring you to St. Lucia! ~Spencer Ambrose

We were on a cruise and booked this tour with others from our ship. Everything was very professionally done even though one of Mr Spencer’s boats (ours) had engine difficulties. The net result was we lost some time however Mr Spencer and his staff made every effort to make sure we got to visit the mud baths the waterfall and spent the end of the day on the beach by the Pitons. We highly recommend Spencer and his team!

My wife and I did this chose this tour after she had previously done a bus tour of St. Lucia causing her to get car sick from all of the winding roads.

The speedboat option was so great in many ways for us. We spend a lot of time on the water so we knew we wouldn't get seasick and the time saved by traveling via boat instead of land was wonderful!

We were the 2nd group of people at the sulfur pools and I was the 2nd person in the waterfall! We had friends from our cruise ship tell us that by the time their bus tour got to the waterfalls there were dozens of people lined up and they never even got to the water. To top it all off, just the amount of time we got to spend at the beach (3+ hours) was so much longer than all of the other people to allow us to enjoy the snorkeling, drinks, and great lunch that was provided. I noticed that most other tours (catamarans) seemed to only have about an hour or so to spend between the Pitons.

She-she and the team were great all day long. I would & have already recommended this tour to people on our cruise ship.

Hello nicknat822. Thank you for your excellent Land, Sea & Beach Adventure trip review with photos. Your uplifting compliments and praise about my guides and the services you received is very encouraging. Our travel by speedboat does reduce travel time, allowing our guests to enjoy more time at the sites and helps us to get ahead of tour groups travelling by land. It is wonderful to hear that travelling by speedboat was a great option for you! At Spencer Ambrose Tours, we take great pride in exceeding the expectations of each and every guest and I am so delighted we were able to accomplish this with you. It gives us tremendous joy to know you have recommended this tour to others. Your support means more than you would know! It was a pleasure having you join us on tour and we look forward to welcoming you back. More of our St. Lucia hospitality and special tour memories will be waiting for you! Thank you for choosing to tour with us! ~Spencer Ambrose

The places we visited in this tour were amazing. Also, She-she (not sure how to spell) was very helpful all the time. However, what really annoyed us was the low level of professionalism... Just as we were leaving the dock, we noticed that there were too many people in the boat and inquired the captain about its capacity. There were 25 people and he said that the boat was authorized to take 22 passengers and 3 crew members (exactly the number of people on the boat). Fortunately, the coast guard also noticed the boat was overcrowded and asked the captain how many people were there. Unbelievably, the captain lied that there were only 20 people in total. Of course, the guards counted and found out he was lying. We had to split from the other group of people and wait for another boat to take us to the first stop. After that, we were told we would continue with the same boat that took us to the first stop until the end of the tour. To cut a long story short, we had to change the boat twice again! I really hope that they improve the level of professionalism, because the places we visited are truly amazing and it's a shame that we didn't have a good experience because of that.

We did this same tour in 2013. Booked it again, as we had really enjoyed the power boat ride to Sugar Beach situated between the two Pitons with Spencer at the throttle.
POSITIVES:
Speedboat got us to the beach before any of the catamarans arrived.
Staff was great. She She (Spencer's daughter) & Jamal were with us at the beach for 4 hours.
Great beach to snorkel - but highly recommend water shoes as beach is very rocky.
Cooler was provided with water, regular & diet Coke, Piton beers and a Rum Punch with a definite attitude!
Lunch was served about noon with a delicious Creole jerk chicken leg, spaghetti salad, potatoes salad, a green tossed salad and plantains.
NEGATIVES:
Most of the beach chairs were in sorry condition (dirty & missing straps)
Way more boats bringing guests than in 2013 - making the beach super crowded.
The speedboat definitely needs new upholstery - it was worn & torn in several places.

Hello magic_carpets. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. Receiving your positive feedback about my staff, your enjoyment of the speedboat ride, your comments about the delicious lunch and the beverages provided is very rewarding feedback. However your dissatisfaction with the condition of the complimentary chairs and number of visitors to the beach, is not a reflection of our services and is something we have no control over. Jalousie/Sugar Beach is a famous beach, noted for its idyllic location between the Gros and Petit Pitons. Since Jalousie/Sugar Beach is a public beach, we cannot control the number of visitors this beach attracts. The chairs are the property of the Sugar Beach Resort and therefore we cannot be held responsible for chairs provided by the Resort. My speedboats are reupholstered regularly, but due to its high traffic use, they do get worn quickly. Although I agree there are a few tears in the seats, and the boats are ready for another redo, is this really such a big issue to warrant a 3-star rating? There is a lot of information on my website as well as in our booking confirmation to help our guests understand their tour and what to expect at Jalousie/Sugar Beach. Receiving a 3-star rating which is based on the condition of chairs (which do not belong to us), the number of visitors on the beach (which we have no control over) and worn upholstery on the speedboat is not a true reflection of the service and hospitality you received from my staff, and this is very discouraging. ~Spencer Ambrose

Spencer needs to go on his own tour so he can see what its really like!
1st Spencer told us he could not join the tour because he had to renew his gun licence..ok?? 20 People hopped into the speed boat plus 3 staff and it was very tight, one man didn't have a seat he was 1/2 on a cooler. Tour says unlimited drinks but they only had 48 beers for 20 people and some water and punch. We had to stop and get ice for the drinks. When we arrived at the beach there was no where to sit, no chairs just the sand or a crowded cement wall. Lunch was very good, way too much food but good! It started raining just before we left but can't help that, so we all piled back into the boat to head back and then someone needed to check the bilge pump (they had checked it in the morning on the way our too) next thing we know were being told to get to the front of the boat where there are no seats for us and the boat is going as fast as it can and bouncing off the waves. Then someone retrieves a 5 gallon pail from under the steering column and proceeds to bail water from the bilge pump area and Im bouncing off the front of the boat because I have to stand and they tell me to hold onto the rope but that did not control my whole body from bouncing around in the boat going over the waves. My shoulder is injured, my husband tried to help me and our heads bounced off each others until my cousin told them to slow down and her husband took my spot at the front for the remaining 30 minute boat ride. This was so dangerous and negligent! The fact that they checked this pump 10 minutes into our departure in the morning leads me to believe they knew there was an issue and they risked the lives of all of us anyway is terrible. As it was happening we wondered if there were even enough life jackets for us all. At one point the crew were fighting/yelling at each other in front of us all. I wish I could get a refund or that they collected their cash fee at the end because they wouldn't have got a penny from 18 people! I heard others on our tour say they had done this tour before and they loved it, that they only had 8-10 people on the boat and it was really good but most of us will remember this as the day we were happy we didn't die in St Lucia.

I am so sorry you did not enjoy the ride back to the cruise terminal. The plastic float switch which turns on the bilge pump cracked. This caused the bilge pump to not turn on. The rain and shaking of the boat due to rougher seas also did not help. This issue seems to have been more apparent to those sitting at the back of the boat and the crew did their best to drain the water. The speedboat was working fine on the previous day's tour, and was just inspected, so there was no way for us to know in advance this would crack. I take pride in my boats and keep them well-maintained. However, even a well-maintained boat will suffer from occasional breakage of parts as salt water, the elements and the load it carries all play significant factors. It is unfortunate, though, this switch had to crack during the tour and I feel badly about that. That evening the speedboat was already sitting in the boatyard to get fixed. In regards to drinks, we do not advertise unlimited beverages. We do provide complimentary beverages to our guests and we were not aware that there was a shortage of drinks on the return journey. Due to Covid, the Sugar Beach Resort has removed the complimentary chairs and we do let our guests know about this on our website as well as in our booking confirmation, so having to place towels down on the sand is to be expected. It is unfortunate that your experience on the return journey put a damper on your whole tour experience and I apologize for that.

We met a representative just outside the port area. We departed by boat to Soufriere after a bit of a wait. Upon arriving in Soufriere we transferred to a van and waited a bit more to depart to the mud bath. The van was air conditioned and had free wifi. We decided to opt out of the mud bath - the sulfur smell combined with the heat and humidity was not for me. Others in the group enjoyed the mud bath. After somewhat rinsing off in the mud bath, we drove five minutes to a waterfall, where a complete rinse was possible under the flowing water. Another 5-10 minutes and we were back to the dock to head out to Sugar Beach and the Pitons. Lunch was provided on the beach, and a cooler with drinks was available throughout the day. After a couple hours at the beach, we enjoyed a fast ride back to Castries, stopping along the way at various bays to see the bays from the boats. I recommend taking boats like Spencer has vs attempting to drive across the island (no need to spend hours on curvy roads when a speedboat will get you there in comfort). A nice day and a great way to see parts of St. Lucia.

If you are not fond of the smell of sulfur, or you have experienced volcanic steam vents and/or mud baths in another locale, I recommend skipping that aspect and booking strictly beach and other tour experiences.

My husband and I arrived in St. Lucia via the Norwegian Gem. We knew that we had limited time in St. Lucia and wanted to maximize our time there. Upon a recommendation from a friend, we booked the Land, Sea and Beach Adventure.

Upon arriving in port, we followed the detailed directions, which led us right to the meeting point of Spencer Ambrose Tours, where we were greeted by Shequana.

As a side note, remember that your final payment is due in full the day of the trip.

Our journey began as we boarded Spencer Ambrose’s speedboat, where we took in the amazing views and warm sun of St. Lucia.

I would strongly recommend wearing water shoes. If you don’t wear water shoes, you will need to remove your shoes while on the boat for safety reasons.

We continued for about 40 minutes on the water until we reached the village of Soufriere. Once arriving in Soufriere, we exited the boat and began exploring by land. We had the option of visiting the Sulphur Springs drive-in volcano or experience the mud baths.  As you can see from the pictures below, we chose the mud baths. Shequana, who is the best guide, escorted us through the baths, and she graciously took tons of pictures for us. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The mud is actually very warm and made our skin feel so smooth and soft after getting out of the bath. We had mosquito bites, and they were instantly dried up after going in the mud bath.

Following the mud bath, we met up with the rest of our group that chose the drive-in volcano. We all experienced the Toraille Waterfall together. The water is “refreshing” but felt quite nice on a warm sunny day in St. Lucia. Again, this is definitely something you need to experience. Shequana, once again, patiently took everyone’s photos capturing memories that will last us a lifetime.

Our final stop was at Jalousie/Sugar Beach, where we had time to relax and enjoy a homemade Creole lunch and drink rum punch. Be careful of the rum punch because it is packed with a “punch” but ever so good!

Jalousie/Sugar Beach is situated between the iconic twin peaks of the Gros and Petit Pitons. The views were absolutely stunning and after our 2 hour stay it was definitely hard to say goodbye. The water is warm and clear colors of blue and green.

You can choose to relax or snorkel while at the beach.

Spencer Ambrose Tours is a family owned business, and they take pride in their tours.

This excursion was absolutely incredible. We enjoyed it thoroughly, and we would definitely recommend this excursion!

Our experience with Spencer felt like discovering a local gem that we all hope for when traveling. The care and intimacy we felt throughout the booking process and tour itself was truly special. Our charter took us - my wife and I and our two teens - from Rodney Marina down to Soufriere. My son and I got off to a waiting taxi that took us to hike Gros Piton while the girls were whisked around to Sugar Beach where they snorkeled and sunbathed. We met back up for a great lunch in town and then worked our way back up the coast, swimming and exploring the coves. My wife and I have spent most of our lives on boats and we were instantly comfortable with Captain Akim and Lucky. In addition to being expert boat handlers they were fun, knowledgeable and flexible. Like countless others in the tourism business Covid hit Spencer and his team hard, both personally and professionally, but they are bouncing back with hope and optimism. Spencer, Akim and Lucky: thank you again, it was the best day of our vacation. We wish you all the best!

Excellent excursion from start to finish. Easy online booking before we left UK, and Spencer kept us updated and responded swiftly to e-mail enquiries. Precise pick up instructions provided and we were duly collected and transferred to the speed boat.
Well looked after by the crew, who provided useful info as we cruised south towards Jalousie (Sugar) beach, with a few stops at scenic spots along the way. There was a delay at one drop off point while we waited for ice - but understandable as the beer needs to be kept cold!
Jalousie beach itself was as perfect as I'd hoped, nestled between the 2 Pitons, and we had plenty of time there to snorkel and sunbathe. We had perfect weather (apparently it had rained solidly for 7 days beforehand so we were lucky). Decent lunch provided by the crew, and Piton beers freely distributed during lunch and on the speed boat trip back, with the crew helping foster a party atmosphere.
Thoroughly enjoyed our day, and would wholeheartedly recommend Spencer Tours - do not worry about going with them rather than a cruise ship excursion; they will get you back safely in plenty of time!
