This is a relatively easy hike but the rewards are incredible! The views and colours at the top are hard to describe. If your in Central America and are interested in volcanos this is a must! Unlike anything I've ever seen before.

My family climbed this Volcano, kids 9, 10 and 12. It is a perfect day hike with a stunning payoff at the top. Never seen anything like it. Beautiful. Guides and guards go up daily at 11. Must see if you are in El Salvador.

What a trip! Super cool! I did Izalco and Santa Ana volcanoes in the same day (yes i am sore now) Both were great, but different. Santa ana hike is not that difficult - nice scenery too on the hike. But what was truly unforgettable...More

A beautiful hike where the reward is waiting for you at the top of the volcano. You can go by chicken bus from Santa Ana. The hike starts at 11 am everyday. It is not allowed to hike by yourself.

It is recommended to take the guided tour. It starts at 11 a.m. but it's better to be there before that time. 10:30 would be the best time to get there. You will have to pay for the entrance to the parking space, then voluntary...More

It takes 2 hours to get there from Santa Ana by chicken bus and only for 90c. The hike is easy, 3 hours both ways. Great view from the top.

It's not too hard to climb, and it's really worth it. You see lago Coatepeque, Cerro Verde, Izalco and of course the crater lake of Santa Anna.

Stunning views at the top, great first volcano hike of hopefully many more to come. The group would have loved to hear more about its history but when prompted the guide happily told me some details, I wish you could start the hike from the...More

It was a cloudy day but I guess it made the hike easier. The view of the Cerro Verde from the peak is amazing and the crater really interesting. You need good shoes and even if you are a bit unfit the guide stops every...More

So anyone can drive themselves to the park entrance and then wait to join the main group to hike up Santa Ana which leaves around 11am? I'm planning to rent a car while I'm in El Salvador but I hadn't seen many posts from people driving themselves to make this hike, only taking buses from the town of Santa Ana.

Yes! We drove ourselves. I would get there around 10:45. I do hear the bus is cheap, but driving was no problem.

Sorry for the delay in responding... $3.00 person in the car to drive in the gate, $1.00 at same entrance to park. In the parking lot we got the overview of the hike from the tourist police of which the Maine theme was... More
