This museum has very few exhibits in a very small space. Unless you're really interested in old currency (there is a downstairs exhibition devoted to El Salvador's old, pre-dollar currency), there are plenty of better things to do in and around Santa Ana

I was disappointed as I expected it to have more samples of old Salvadorean coins and bills. Collection is very small, nevertheless interesting. It also had a photo exhibition of places in El Salvador that missed to mention the name of the places where they were taken

Well, there are different events happening here. Depends on when you go. It changes. But it's very interesting to learn the history. Downstairs in the vault there are gold bars and the history of the money used.

During Santa Ana's Golden Age, the city was influential enough to have an office of the Banco Central de Reserva (Central Reserve Bank) of El Salvador. This museum is located in the former offices of the bank's branch. The underground vault showcases a small permanent exhibition of El Salvador's currency, which ceased to be produced when the dollarization process started in 2001. The exhibit is small, but shows the notes emitted by the Central Bank, the notes emitted by the Private Banks, and the private currency (tokens) in which coffee farmers were paid by the landowners.
