Beaches like this belie the bad press that The Northeast often gets. Great backdrop with castle ruins and quite nice terraced houses. Worth a visit at any time of year

I love this little beach. It's so picturesque, clean and almost always nearly deserted. Have a coffee or eats at Riley's Fish Shack and enjoy the view.

Of course, as a northern English urban beach there are certain things that must be expected. Its usually cold, and the water is always cold! There are ships, wind farms and urban activity in sight. All that said, this is an impressive little cove with...More

Great beach with historical site nearby. Pleasant walk with free limited parking. Pity food was average in nearby places. Expected to be able to get a crab sandwich!

Yes you can, although you'd need a sea fishing licence. A quick google can bring up many angling clubs who share advice on fishing in this area.
