Lovely enclosed bay with golden sands, you have to go down quite a few steps to get there (which means you have to climb them back up! Although we did find a slope which was slightly easier). We had a drink at the Riley’s Fish...More

This is a beautiful sheltered bay and a bit of a hidden gem between Tynemouth Castle and the more poular Long Sands. The infrastructure around it is a bit tired and unkempt but the bay itself is gorgeous with safe golden sand.

Just moved to the coast and still in awe of my beautiful new town. The beach was beautiful, spotless and the perfect place for a lovely walk. Everyone is so friendly in Newcastle. So many people saying good morning.

This is a little more sheltered than tynemouth longsands. There are a series of benches set on one flight of steps down, which are not immediately apparent unless you peer over the rail on the pavement. Its rather nice to sit and take in the...More

King Edwards is a lovely secluded spot with a small sandy beach and protected making the water calmer than the neighboring Long Sands. The choice is a steep climb or long steps both of which are great for a good workout and well worth a...More

This is a great, secluded little beach, just moments away from the cafes and bars in town. Clean sand, gentle waves (well, when we were there, anyway) and not at all crowded (likewise …). A real bonus for the people of the town, I would...More

Now that is a steep climb but, you know, well worth it from the point of view of a good cardio work out. Nice, fairly secluded beach. If you mortgage your house you can enjoy a meal at the trendy fish shack but be sure...More

Yes you can, although you'd need a sea fishing licence. A quick google can bring up many angling clubs who share advice on fishing in this area.
