What an amazing blue lake in a truly beautiful part of New Zealand. The lake is very blue but it is dependent on the weather as to how blue it will be when you visit, and visit you must if you come tho this part of the world. Spend some time marveling at the scenery with the mountains in the... More

New Zealand is well known for her natural wonders, and Lake Pukaki is definitely one of them. The vast lake is very beautiful and intensely blue and sparkly particularly on sunny days. This is definitely a place where I could just spend a day marvelling at its beauty. The view is just stunning too, the southern alps and Mt Cook... More

Just returned from a self drive in New Zealand (both North and South Islands) having been previously about 5 years ago on a courier led coach tour. Vaguely remember being awestruck on a brief visit the first time around so was keen to go back but this time on first sight as the lake came into view I had trouble... More

We travelled through New Zealand for 6 weeks in a camper and this was certainly one of our favourite places to spend a few nights. The colour of the water is so incredibly blue, that it looks almost artificial......but it's not. The road from Lake Pukaki to Mount Cook Village is a must.

Wow, it is the first time I ever seen. It was blue lake with snowy mountains as the background. You can buy fresh salmon in the shop while sighseeing and enjoying the lake. There are many rocks in the edge of lake and cannot go down but it is beautiful to see

Driving from Christchurch to Queenstown you pass many lakes but Lake Pukaki simply took my breath away. The glistening blue waters with snow covered mountains in the backdrop I would strongly recommend stopping on the various lookouts along the highway. For those wanting particular good photos my suggestion is to stop at the closest to the shoreline. All photos uploaded... More

Lake Pukaki is one of the most dramatic lakes I've ever seen: enormous, a tropical turquoise hue (the restful of glacial debris), and surrounded by New Zealand's tallest mountain range, with the awe-inspiring Mount Cook at the lake's northern end. If you're anywhere in the area, this is definitely worth the stop for a quick walk or even just some... More

One of the prettiest lakes in South Island, and especially fascinating when driving across the lake from Mount Cook. Piercing blue water. Impossible not to stop for a photo.

Excellent views of Mt. Cook. Nice place for photos if you don't want to take the extra hour drive into the National Park for a more close up visit to the mountain.

This lake has the most beautiful reflections of the mountains. Many people stop here for a break. There is seating along the lake to take in this beautiful scenery/
