The color of the lake is something incredible and the water is so clean and pure you just want to jump in to it.

Driving along Lake Pukaki we went to Mt Cook Village. The lake has a wonderful icy blue / turquois colour because of the glacier. A place to be in love with!

There is a big car park and viewing area. The views are breathtaking. No photo or description can do justice to what can be experienced.

In have seen blue lakes in h/bollywood movies and have often wondered.. how much of that is real and how much photo shopped. Whatever the reviews and pics below tell you, nothing prepares you for the first time you actually see Lake Pukaki with your own eyes.. Driving up from Wanaka in a campervan, we turned left on SH80 towards... More

This lake is so crystal blue we are all amazed and stunned by its pristine beauty. I spent a long time there admiring god creation. The scenery is so beautiful it's almost magical. This lake is much more beautiful than lake Tekapo. And one must try the award wining fresh salmon sold at a nearby shop. The salmon sashimi is... More

There area a few ways to view Lake Pukaki. This is of course one of the locations used in the filming of the Hobbit trilogy. The lake colour is amazing and a result of runoff. If you are here to have a gander at Mt Cook in the distance, then I recommend driving a wee bit further to the Peter's... More

After lake Tekapo, the view of lake Putaki was still a better visual treat with crystal clear blue water and blue skies in the background of grand mountains in the setting son was something out of the world. Thrilling indeed and no doubt one of the best scenic location in the world

We passed Lake Pukaki on a couple of occasions whilst travelling from Lake Tekapo to Mount Cook village. We found the best photo opportunities were later in the afternoon from the visitors' centre (and the statue of the ram was an added bonus!) with Mount Cook in the distance. However, once photos have been taken, there's not much more to... More
