It is the best lake in my opinion. It is very bright light blue when the sky is blue. Best to go in morning. When we driven past in the afternoon, the light blue turquoise color has dissappeared.

If heading to Mt Cook, you'll drive along the side of it, plus the road from Twizel to Tekapo passes the southern edge, which has a few points offering amazing views down the brilliant blue lake to Mt Cook.
