- mortimertravelsHouston, Texas38 contributionsBeautiful beachThe beach was not crowded at all and we were able to lay our stuff on a beach towel on the sand instead of renting a lounge chair. The water was chilly, but so refreshing and calm! The black sand was beautiful and the clear water was perfect.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 8, 2023
- Deanosaur89Edmonton, Canada8,617 contributionsGreat Visit to the BeachThe black sand is really nice to walk on and there is plenty of parking and space at this beach. There are some nice restaurants, hotels and shops nearby. We had a nice stop here as we drove around the island too. What sets it apart from other beaches we visited in Santorini is the amenities as most of the beaches are very scenic but this one had a lot more open places in the low season. The beach was covered in pumice and skipping stones so we had some fun throwing them into the sea. The beach is also quite clean and has none of the oil that we found on another black sand beach that stuck to our shoes.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten March 23, 2024
- Trevor DBray, Ireland76 contributionsNice sandy beachBlack sandy beach with many restaurant bars that offer free sun loungers on the beach. Only one bus per hour from Fira, takes over an hour and can get crowded. No taxi rank in the vicinity, you have to book in advanceVisited May 2024Travelled with friendsWritten May 22, 2024
- Simon-DNKCopenhagen Region, Denmark257 contributionsOne of the best beaches on Santorini.Clear cool water, lots of good restaurants and bars. There are also public areas where you do not have to pay for an umbrella and sunbed. Sunday are usually very busy with a lot of people. The beach is usually quiet before noon and tends to fill up around 1500-1700.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 22, 2024
- claire m13 contributionsBeachLove this beach, so many beach bars and restaurants, comfortable sunbeds. Crystal clear waters. Umbrellas. Usually beds are free if you order a drink. Water sports. Beware of the hot sand on your feet. Definitely recommend a visit.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten August 21, 2024
- Ioanna BNea Filadelfia, Greece17 contributionsWonderful Big Sandy Beach easily accessible Well Organized but still with plenty of spacePerivolos Beach is a wonderful sandy and clean beach. The approach to the sea is very easy without any rocky obstacles, ideal for families and children. It is quite big so that it does not look crowded, very well organised with cafes, sunbeds, water sports, restaurants and beach bars but still with plenty of free space for anyone that wants to enjoy the beach individually. You spend a whole day there without getting bored or feeling overcrowdedVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten August 21, 2024

Ideal beach for families with kids or people who cannot go very deep, with very small sand-like volcanic rocks.
Unlike the other beaches in Santorini that have big rocks in the water, this beach felt exactly like a sandy beach without the sand’s inconvenience.
You can either swim in the public beach or in one of the many restaurants around it.
In any case, please note that you need water shoes because the Little Rocks/sand get extremely hot between 10:00 and 17:00.
We stayed in Safran restaurant and when you eat for 60 euros, the sun beds are for free, but you can still choose the public beach if you want (just know there is no shade anywhere).

Perivolos is a perfectly nice beach with plenty of nice beach side restaurant options along the strip and watersport activities such as jet ski etc. being offered from companies that are located right on the beach. It is also a nice change in terms of significantly less tourists frequenting this part of the island compared to Oia and other famous postcard motives. As for the beach in general its nice, but not as clean and picturesque beautiful as other beaches I have seen in Greece or other places. So yes, if you are on the island its definitely not a bad option, but beaches are not the unique asset that lure people to Santorini, but rather the volcanic topography and beautiful architecture on it.

Beautiful beach, relaxing, lots of restaurants along the road, northern part is more touristic and southern is more local. Water everywhere is great. Sun beds and umbrella plus parking range 7 to 30 euro depends on how fancy service is

One of the best beaches in Santorini. This is a black sand beach in the south part of the island and offers a nice, quiet and relaxing vibe which is quite different from the touristy cliffs of Oia and Imervovigli. Being a sandy and clean beach, this is an excellent place to swim. The waters are relatively clear and there are plenty of shaded seating options available for a modest fee (EUR 10 - 15) for the full day. Plenty of eating options near the beach and a mini market ofering cool drinks, beers and basic swimming equipments. There are also water sports though it was quite expensive; nearly EUR 50-60 for a 10min jet ski / squab. We spent the whole day at the beach and couldnt have asked for a better experience.

Beautiful beach with it’s black sand. Many restaurants right on the beach that you can order from, right from your beach umbrella/lounge chairs. There are plenty of beach umbrellas, lounge chairs and beach beds to rent. There is plenty of room to take your own beach blankets or chairs if you don’t want to rent one. If you’re looking for some water sports, you can rent a jet ski, or go parasailing. The beach is right by a bus stop, so it’s easy to get to from anywhere on the island. I do recommend water shoes, as there are plenty of small pebbles just as you get into the water. The water does have a quick drop in depth, so you may want to keep an eye on the little ones. There are plenty of natural pumice stones to collect on the beach as well as some pretty stones.

Perivolos Beach is streching7 km on the northeastern side of the island, characteristic with its black vulcano sand and crystal clear water. Absolutely one of the best for clear water swimming.
Many tavernas, restaurants and lounge bars by the seafront beachside and a quite active nightlife.
Pricelevel much lowe than in Fira and Oia. Surrounded by mountains, countryside farms and a mix of houses and hotels

We had brunch at Aegean Safran and used their sun beds after. It saves paying €20 at parts not in front of bars or restaurants. The sea is lovely to swim in. It does get deep very quickly so less confident swimmers need to be aware of that. I wore sandals to the water as the sand gets very hot. Very pleasant day overall.

We went here for a day, mind the sand it gets so hot vey quickly! You are served at your sun bed which is brilliant. However the one thing they never tell you about is the wind. It caught as out without warning a couple of times, and the gusts are very strong. Be warned. The other point which has been mentioned before is that the sea gets deep very quickly, it literally is just a couple of steps, the water is also very salty, but refreshing.

I'm going to be heading to Perivolos Beach August 13th on a cruise and we dock at 1pm. I was wondering if I need to worry about booking a sunbed in advance or should I take my chances and just try to find one when I get there. There will be about 3 other ships docked the same day, some arriving in the morning. So far I'm just looking for 2 adults and 2 kids. I know there are also some places that will provide free beds if you order food with them so if you guys could recommened places and suggestions on what to do that would be great. Thanks in advance!

One restaurant we tried when we went was Fish Tavern o Perivolos. They have sunbeds and cabanas available that you can reserve on their website. I went with my family in March and we all thought their food was really good too and affordable.
Santorini does get very busy in the summer so reservations would be recommended.

Hi, has anybody been to both Perivolos Beach and Kamari Beach? Wondering how they compare.
Written June 4, 2019
We are here now and have been to both. I’d pick Perivolos. Cool boardwalk strip with restaurants, beach clubs and pools. If you eat at one of the restaurants that has a pool you can swim. Also beach is wider and a bit nicer in Perivolos.

Are there any white sand beaches in Santorini?
Written January 19, 2019
There is some white sand near "Red Beach" . Red Beach is officially closed, but you can still get to it. There's also a beach called White Beach, but I think that the name has more to do with the cliffs behind it than the sand color, but there may be some white sand there. However, the black sand beach at Perissa is beautiful and soft, not pebbly like most volcanic sand beaches.

si, si può arrivare, ed una volta li consiglio di fittare una macchina a perissa( ci puoi andare a piedi) per fare un giro dell’isola

There were some people snorkeling. We did snorkel for a little bit. There is not much to see but little fish here and there.

You can find something within 15 to 30 gbp. Don't get too big a car, get a small economy one: roads are small, you'll never be able to go more than 70 kph. Buses work well if you're on a budget, but you won't be able to get to the more remote places. You also have the option of scooter or ATV. It's my 2nd time on the island and I would still only recommend a small car. The sun hits hard, so you need the protection or you will roast, but still roads are small and crowded, better a small car than a bigger one. This recommendation goes for the mid-September period. I can easily see this place be a total mess with summer crowds.

Rental cars are very inexpensive, grab one in Fira and it is 20 minute drive. Well worth the drive and you can come and go to the beach as you like. There is plenty of parking everywhere and parking is free.
