    Relax Fortress
I almost impossible to visit Sighisoara and Brasov without visiting Rupea. Nice views , clean destination , a very good place to relax. When we visit the fortress in the internal court an ceramic artist was working on his pottery. Good for family ,children and we see even a wedding.

Rupea Citadel: A Timeless Gem in Transylvania
Rupea Citadel in Romania is a hidden gem with a rich history. Perched atop a hill, the views are breathtaking. The well-preserved fortress offers an intriguing journey through time. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and a great spot for panoramic photos. Don't miss it if you're in Transylvania!

    Beautiful, but not well kept
I loved the place so much, however it saddens me seeing people’s name scratched on the walls, it kills the magic of the place. However saw they installed cameras, I think it was recently, but would definitely apply some fines for those who try to vandalize the monument. More info about the history of the site would also be nice, would like to bring my kids one day, and kids cannot be fooled by rocks, they need the story.

The Fortress of Rupea ... its been 30+ years since I last visited this fortress, and unfortunately I have to say very little has changed ... and the changes are not towards improving the visitors experience.
Still a nice place to visit, but it definitely could be much more to it than it is today.
The good things:
- you can park your car near the walls in dedicated parking lots , free of charge
- there is an asphalt road to the fortress.
- you can "rent" and audio guide (not available during our visit ...no further com).
- relatively low entrance fee - around 3 Euro/Adult.
The bad things:
- limited guidance through tiny panels - you can scan the QR but the info is limited at best.
- no refurbishment or maintenance or improvement done
- inner rooms , towers and other sections are empty
- signs of vandalism everywhere in all the indoor spaces. (one would say is the tourists, sure thing it is , but the custodians could do something to reduce, prevent, etc.)
Is it worth visiting? for sure it is and I recommend everybody to check out this piece of history standing on top of the "Kohalom" near Reps (the Saxon name of Rupea).
Go and see for yourself what it is and image what it could be - if for instance it would be located "not in Romania". Such a great place, pity is doesn't shine at its true value.

I walked up to the fortress through this small marvel town. It is an impressive fortress dating back to 1300 with much history and a view of the surroundings from the top. A nice walk and stop. There is also a museum in this town. Viscri which is the home village of prince Charles ancestors is 20KM away

The restoration of the castle is a joke. Looks abandoned and it’s full with vandalism. No history was mentioned only the architecture of the fortress. Wikipedia gives you better guidance than this place. Shame on the council letting this place in this state. Pretending like it’s in good condition.

This impressive hilltop fortress holds a very strategic location where important trading routes passed. Seen from far away as you approach and a fine view is offered when you arrive.

This place is great! I saw it many times from the main road, but I was more than happy to see it and walk around the citadel. It is a very nice attraction, for people of all ages. However, there might be some parts, that elderly people might not reach. It is restored and well maintained. There are signs all around and you can find the its' story with no guide.
There is a free parking, small souvenir shop, drinks and snacks caravan and inside the citadel, there is a gentleman doing pottery. Interesting for visitors.
We have enjoyed the time there!

Very nice attraction.
Good signs in English, free onsite parking and the best fortress we have ever seen worldwide.
Well worth a visit.
However, it is quite steep at points so not for those with difficulty walking or balancing.
Fabulous panoramic views of the town and countryside from the top.
Best for a dry day as the cobbled bits could become quite slippy.

This place is like a fairytale. It is perfectly located in the top of the hill and has amazing views of the villages nearby.
We loved to walk around, enjoying the site and the breathtaking views.
The entry fee was 15 RON/person and you can pay either cash or with a card.
The lady from the entrance was extremely polite and helpful.
Definitely worth a visit if you stay in Brasov or you travel to Sighisoara or Viscri.
It is an 1 hour ride from Brasov
