Since everyone else is at the next beach south, you can come here for stillness and a long walk. There is only one road over the hill from town to get here. Come for free a yoga class everyday day at sunset. Or speak to the nearby boutique hotel manager to sign up for a massage on the beach under billowing white curtains.

We went there during day time and nobody was there!
Great place to watch sunset.
It looks like sand is more black here.

I really enjoy Mermejita, it's a little less busy than Mazunte and Rinconcito and there is also access to Punta Cometa. It's not safe to swim at this beach, you'll probably see quite a few people doing it anyway, ignore that. The waves are very strong and high, and there is a current that could pull you out to sea. I've been here every year for 4 years and I always hear stories about who died this year getting carried off or drowning. Don't let me scare you from enjoying this beautiful view or playing after the break of the waves. I just would highly recommend fully going into the water.

The beach doesn't have shade so be preapred to bring your own towels and sun umbrella (or to have drinks in the dirty restaurant that opens around 3 pm), you cannot enter the sea in this beach since the currents are extremely strong.

Mermejitas is great for a walk and to see the black sand. However it is not for spending the day at the beach. there isn't any shade. Unless you walk all the way to the end and use some rock formations for shade. Not really swimmable either. When we went the currents were very strong, so be careful !

There are few people at this beach. It is fairly long with large waves and a strong tow so it good for swimming . There are no shade trees but it is a beautiful spot.

the beach is less crowded than Punta Cometa and for that reason my favourite spot to watch the sunset in Mazunte. last time I came here with my girlfriend we even saw a whale mother playing with her kid near the shore while tje sun was going down ! Simply WOW

Lovely beach. Beautiful sunsets. The stars at night are unbelievable. This is a magical place. It is important to mantienen it clean and beautiful, far from the noise and the crowd.

This beach is covered with dead wood. Not sure if there was a storm that brought in all the wood and destroyed the area but the road in is washed out badly for non 4X4 a disappointing day plan.

¡Hola! ÂżAlguien sabe si el acceso para llegar caminando es difĂcil? Me hospedarĂ© en una cabaña frente a esa playa y me dijeron que era pasando el panteĂłn (Camino Mermejita). Mil gracias!
