A visit to the Whitehorse has become an annual summer event for us (mother & 2 daughters). The fairly large building contains a comfortable dining area with plenty of windows offering lots of daylight and a view of outdoor greenery. The scones with devonshire cream are delicious! A stroll through the gift shop is a must for various items ranging from trinkets to home decor such as wall art & unique wooden furniture (although the selection was a bit sparse on our last visit compared to previous times). It's a delightful place that's well worth the short drive west of Winnipeg.

My wife and I went for a drive to St. Francis Xavier, a little town just a short drive west of Winnipeg just off the Trans-Canada. This place is on the right side of the road to St. Francis Xavier but it's well before the town, just a mile off the Trans-Canada. We stopped there because we thought it was a big gift shop. To our surprise there was a lovely restaurant with an entrance from the shop. The gift shop was very good but the restaurant was better. The ambience was wonderful (rattan furniture, a large beautiful mural on two walls, good air conditioning). The food was very reasonably priced and delicious. We had the mushroom soup, a scone with strawberry jam and devonshire cream, and a slice of blueberry pie, along with a coffee and a herbal tea. The total bill of $14 was quite reasonable. We'll definitely be coming back to this gem!

I took my mother here for Mother's Day and we had a very enjoyable experience! We had delicious tea from a huge selection, incredible home style soups and sandwiches and yummy desserts. The service was excellent!! It was very busy but the ladies were fast, super friendly and regularly checked to see if you wanted anything else. It was impressive!
Then we had a pleasant wander through the large gift shop which has everything from greeting cards to kitchen gadgets to garden decorations to hand built furniture. Jewellery, fine ceramic figurines and kids books and toys were also available. Reasonable prices as well. We really enjoyed looking at all the different displays.
Its a little bit out of the way but it is very much worth the visit!!
