Absolutely beautiful. We only stayed for 2 hours and didn't hike too far, but it a beautiful place at every turn. Trail markings are a bit confusing, but the scenery was breath taking. Saw no other people for 2 hrs. The river had several nice bridges and waterfalls at every turn. Highly recommend this park. Trails quite wet and rugged.

This park was nice enough. I did the Gallo trek which is listed as 5-6 hours and medium to hard. Wrong! I am en experienced hiker and did the route relatively quickly. It took me 5 hours and 55 minutes. Normally I shatter the times listed...this time on only just made the slowest time! Allow 6-7 hours for sure. It... More

We arrived too late in the day to enjoy the full array of possibilities in the park. Our short walk was delightful in scenery, scent of pines, and of course, birds. This "toe dip" experience certainly fired a desire to visit again to spend a full day. We enjoyed a good variety of birds along the road (currently being paved)... More

In Western Honduras, a visit to Celaque National Park is a must! I had a great day of hiking in the park. The original plan was to hike to the waterfall mirador and then retrace my steps to the visitor center. Instead, I decided to return during the longer and much more strenuous Sendero El Gallo. If you have the... More

My wife and I drove our rental car out the road (currently being paved) from Gracias to Celaque National Park moderately early in the morning. We made the Mirador/Waterfall hike, climbing 600 meters in the process. We were surprised no one but the ranger was there in the entire time of our stay. We also saw and heard only a... More

The national park contains the highest peak in Honduras. Its relatively easy getting there from Gracias if you have a car. The road from town to the park is pretty good. I had read elsewhere that the road is a mudroad. Its now a paved road and it was almost complete when we went. From the gates of the park... More

Celaque National Park is the highest peak in Honduras (above 2800 m). Home to 7/8 pine species found in Honduras and lots of other flora and fauna. Bird watchers have a great time on this hike since it's a fairly easy hike and there are loads of weird and precious bird species. If you keep up a quick pace you... More

The park is quiet and they are working on the road. It is a good hiking place. Do not forget the mosquito spray!! Some trails are difficult for average or young people. You can not swim in the water because it is used for drinking in the surround areas. There is nothing close for eating so bring snacks.

I did a day hike to the Waterfall viewpoint in Celaque from Gracias. Walked the 5 km between Guancascos in Gracias and Celaque, but I would suggest to share a tuk tuk because the road is under works with lots of trucks and dust from 6 am to 6 pm, at least during the first 3 km. The park itself... More
