The disused church like building is an impressive landmark of Waihi. Take a walk around and have a look into the mine. Locals are not happy about the mining that now is done by foreign investors.

This is a lovely walk. Depending on which way you go it can be quite a work out. I am not sure if it is still open but I last did it anti clockwise in January 2016 I think.

We didn't walk the whole 5km circuit but enjoyed the area we did walk along. Especially with the commemorative ANZAC poppies along part of the fence.
